NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 12/15

Nashville Predators vs St. Louis Blues Prediction

I can't emphasize enough how underwhelming both of these teams are. Juuse Saros struggles on the road, while Joel Hofer has difficulties at home. Neither offense is exceptional, but Nashville has been scoring more frequently lately, largely due to Steven Stamkos rediscovering his old form. There should be plenty of scoring opportunities for both teams, so given the inconsistent goaltending, I predict we'll see a lot of goals and take the Over.

 

 

 

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of the Day: Casey DeSmith - DAL

The Dallas Stars are coming off an embarrassing 4-0 home loss to the Florida Panthers, so I expect them to perform much better tonight. Casey DeSmith is confirmed to start in goal, and he has been outstanding. Although he is the most expensive goalie on DraftKings, the matchup justifies the cost. The Kings will be without Philip Danault and Quinton Byfield due to illness, so there’s no reason for the Stars not to dominate from start to finish.

Honourable Mention: Connor Hellebuyck - WPG

Connor Hellebuyck returned to the lineup for the game against the Washington Capitals and delivered an outstanding performance. While his season statistics are solid, they haven't quite reached the levels we've seen in previous years. Nevertheless, the veteran goaltender is priced at under $8,000, which makes him hard to overlook. For a GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool), I plan to have some exposure to him.

Player of the Day: Nikita Kucherov - TBL

You can always count on Nikita Kucherov to deliver when he steps onto the ice. The Panthers are a tough opponent, but it’s hard to believe this game will be low-scoring. These teams have a strong rivalry, and if tempers flare, we can expect plenty of power plays. Kucherov has the ability to score goals and set up his teammates. His performance is consistently high, making him an excellent choice for cash games.

Honourable Mention: Jason Robertson - DAL

Jason Robertson ended his last game with exactly zero fantasy points. He didn't register any points, didn't get a single shot on goal, and also failed to block any shots, despite playing just under 22 minutes of ice time. I don’t anticipate this happening again. The Kings are performing at an elite level on the road, which may pose a challenge for him in terms of hitting value. He is likely to have low ownership, even on a smaller slate.

Value Play of the Day: Will Cuylle - NYR

Mika Zibanejad will not be playing tonight due to snow and traffic in New York, as he missed a team meeting. This creates an opportunity on the top power play unit for Will Cuylle, who will take Zibanejad's spot, giving him a significant boost. Although the Rangers struggle at home, the Ducks have been awful on the road and allow many quality scoring chances. Cuylle is priced under $5K and can be used as part of a stack or as a stand-alone option.
