NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 12/13

 

Capitals vs. Jets Prediction 

In this matchup one team is red hot and one team is ice cold! The Capitals have been one of the best teams of late winning 7 of their last 10 and only losing in regulation once. They have the highest goal differential in the Eastern Conference and have allowed just 1.9 goals per game over the past 10 games. They may be on the road but the Capitals are rightly favored in this game. The Jets have lost 3 straight and 7 of 10 coming into tonight and their offense has broken down with just 2.4 goals over the 10 game stretch. Until Hellebuyck is back in net its Eric Comrie and I will continue to fade him and his 3.33 GAA on the season. Capitals on the Money Line today, I love the play. 

Pick: Capitals Money Line (-120 on BetMGM)

Flames vs. Kings Prediction 

This one is not going to be friendly for DFS purposes but in game betting there's a sure fire play to be made on this game. The Flames are the lowest scoring road team in the NHL this season scoring just 2.28 goals per game and the Kings are as stingy a defense as they come. Los Angeles has allowed just 2.1 goals per game over the past 10 contests so the Flames are going to struggle here tonight. On offense the Kings aren't much better with 2.6 goals per game over the past 10 contests and on the season they are scoring 2.15 goals per game on home ice. These numbers of course point to the under and the sportsbooks know that as the total of 5.5 is juiced to the under but no matter, its an angle that must be pursued.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day - Igor Shesterkin - NYR

The defense for the Rangers has been steadily improving after an early season free for all and now they are locking back in. Shesterkin has been stready this season with a 2.48 GAA and .912 SV% and is holding his own against most teams. He has allowed just 10 goals over the past 4 games and will look to continue his form against a Montreal team that is inconsistent on offense with 2.8 goals per game over the past 10 contests. They normally put up shots too so it gives Igor the nod with a good floor and upside as well.  

Player of The Day: Nathan MacKinnon - COL

We are getting to the point were MacKinnon is the play of the day everytime the Avalanche are on the slate but can you blame me? The man has 53 points on the season and nobody else has reached 50+ in the standings to chase him. The matchup against the Predators is a great one as well with them allowing 3.5 goals per game over the past 10 games so fire up MacKinnon even though it will hurt the wallet. 

Value Play of The Day: Mark Stone - VGK

Big spot for Vegas today going against the Blue Jackets who have been the league's worst defense for the past month or so. They've allowed 42 goals in the last 10 games and their expected goals against is at 3.94 so not far behind the actual mark. Columbus also allows the 2nd most DFS points to right wingers on the season and Stone has a point in every single game he has played this season. That is not a typo, every single game! Hard to find other player in the 5k range that has production like that.
