There are a handful of big matchups for some select offenses tonight so those will be the targets in daily fantasy of course. We have some very good matchups to cover, so let’s get into the action.

For the NHL Bets, we are going to start off very slowly. It’s a new year, and things around the league are going to be different. We don’t have stats yet to work with, so most recommendations are going to be educated guesses. Don’t blow your (bankroll) load in the first month of action. We got a whole year together, so let’s get to work and stick to half unit wagers. You can get every expect pick, including mine, right here.

NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 11/1

 

Capitals vs. Sabres Prediction 

We are nearly a month into the season here but there is still plenty of variance to go around. That's the case for the Capitals right now as they are playing well but not getting the expected results thus far. I believe things turn around for the better as Washington has the 2nd highest expected goals mark in the NHL right now and the Sabres on defense is allowing 3.1 goals to their 3.71 expected number. This is all without Ovechkin really getting going this season as well and we all know that will not continue.

Caps also have the edge in the goaltending department with Ukko-Pekka Luukonen starting the season off rocky for the Sabres against Charlie Lindgren. The Capitals at even money to win seems like the bet of the day to me. 

Pick: Capitals Money Line (+100 on DraftKings)

Pick: Alex Ovechkin Anytime Goal (+155 on DraftKings)

Senators vs. Canadiens Prediction

Its a matchup of two teams up north that have been hot on offense! The Habs and Sens each come into this one scoring 3.64 goals per game which is just outside the top 5 in the NHL. The defenses likely push this agenda as well seeing as the Senators are allowing 4 goals per game through the opening 11 games. The goalies going tonight haven't been much to write home about either with Linus Ullmark slow out of the gate with a 3.36 GAA and .863 SV% and Sam Montembeault hanging with a massive 3.81 GAA. I expect the offenses to carry the day here so give me the over on 6.5 goals.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day: Dan Vladar - PHI

Going to go in an unconventional way here with my goalie of the day and pick one from an underdog team! Usually we will play the goalies that are expected to win and will face less competition in their crease but I like the way the Flyers are playing at home right now and Vladar has been really good. With a 4-2 record, 1.67 GAA and .939 SV% he's been putting up numbers and the team as a whole is allowing just 2.29 goals per game on home ice. Maple Leafs will be a challenge but I like the roll of the dice here.  

Player of The Day: Connor McDavid - EDM

McDavid against the Blackhawks was just not one I could say no to today. Things have been shaky to start for the Oilers but we are used to such things and at some point they are going to start steamrolling teams again. I believe that's the spot we are in today as Chicago has played defense over their skis so far but have an expected goals mark of 3.43 which is not good! Fire up the best player in the world people!

Value Play of The Day: Jordan Kyrou - STL

There are a pair of sneaky games on the slate but the matchup between the Blue Jackets and Blues is the one I am keyed in on. Kyrou is the majority of the offense in St. Louis and plays big minutes for them. He's yet to have a massive game but he has had over 14 DK DFS points in 3 of his last 4 games and the Blue Jackets allow a ton of shots on goal. At 6k he will be in most of my lineups today.
