NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today 11/3

Minnesota Wild vs. Philadelphia Flyers: Tuesday, November 3rd

Its West meets East tonight as the Wild continuing rolling on toward the city of brotherly love to take on the Flyers. The Flyers have slightly rebounded after their early season debacle but this Wild team presents one hell of a test for them tonight.

The biggest Flyers issue now is they've can't score goals. Over their last 10 games at even strength they've generated just 1.69 expected goals per game, which is the 2nd lowest number in the NHL. On the flip side they are allowing just 2.01 which is allowing them to stay in some games. On the Minnesota side they are piling in the goals with 2.43 expected per game at even strength and they've also put together some staunch defensive performances. They are allowing just 1.76 expected goals at even strength during their last 10 games.

In addition to those team stats Jesper Wallstedt has been fantastic this season as the Wild's lead goaltender. He leads the NHL in goals saved above expected at 11.1 and ranks 7th among goalies that have made at least five starts in goals saved above expected per 60 minutes. I see the goals coming at a premium for the Flyers tonight and I believe they play enough defense themselves to push this matchup to the under tonight that sits at six goals across many sportsbooks.

  • Pick: Wild & Flyers Under 6 (-110 on BetMGM)

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Nashville Predators: Tuesday, November 3rd

I think it may be early in the season to say the Hurricanes are going back to back winning the Cup but damn do they look good after a month of hockey. They are 12-2-2 overall and 7-1-1 on the road and their metrics are just amazing. How does that stack up in Music City tonight though? Let's dive into the matchup!

The Hurricanes over their last 10 games rank first in the NHL in expected goals at even strength at 2.58 and they've scored 2.9 on the box scores overall. Their goals share percentage has also ballooned to 74.36% during that time period which is way ahead of the next highest team in the NHL. Pyotyr Kochetkov has also been amazing in net for this team with a perfect 10-0-0 record and a 1.49 GAA to boot. To put it plainly the Hurricanes are kicking butts and taking names so far this season.

On the Nashville side they have been league average in the standings but they are living dangerously in the deeper stats. They are scoring 2.3 expected goals per game at even strength but they are also allowing 2.28 which is the 7th highest mark in the NHL. I just think the Preds will be overwhelmed tonight against this storm front so give me the Canes to win in regulation to make the odds more in our favor on this wager.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day: Jesper Wallstedt, MIN

This rationale was laid out in the Wild vs. Flyers best bet but to recap, the Flyers offense is bad and Wallstedt is one of the hottest goalies in the sport. Great matchup, and the team is favored, lock it in!

Player of The Day: Nathan MacKinnon, COL

Not even playing back to back nights can deter me from backing one of the best players in the league! The matchup is a good one against Jet Greaves and the Blue Jackets tonight and Mac is riding a six game point streak right now, could go big here in this spot.

Value Play of The Day: Mark Stone, VGK

The Golden Knights are on the road today against a Penguins team that is flawed on the defensive side and that's putting it nicely. Stone has 10 goals already this season and the Penguins allow the 3rd most DFS points per game to right wingers on the season.

Defenseman Play of the Day: Evan Bouchard, EDM

No team in the NHL allows more DFS points to defenseman than the Devils and who is better at producing numbers at the position than Bouchard right now? He has five points over his last three games and plays 25+ minutes a night in what could be the game of the night.

Top Stack of the Day: Ducks Forward Line 2

The group of Mikael Granlund, Beckett Sennecke and Cutter Gauthier could feed families tonight against a Canucks team that seems to have already given up on the season. They allow the most shots in the NHL and bleed goals, this is a must have stack tonight.
