NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 11/28

Calgary Flames vs Florida Panthers Prediction

The Calgary Flames have been decent of late, but don’t let that distract you from the fact that they are still a terrible hockey team. They don’t score goals and have been bailed out by Devin Cooley. The Panthers have been all over the place the last few weeks, but when they are good, they are GOOD GOOD. They can fill the net and control the game from start to finish. I like their chances of winning this game by a wide margin.

 

Nashville Predators vs Chicago Blackhawks Prediction

Watching the Nashville Predators play hockey regularly can’t be good for your health. Not only is this team terrible, but they are old. They have one of the oldest groups, and they can’t score goals, defend, or stop the puck. The Blackhawks have lost four in a row, but they have been playing good hockey. I’ll take my chances with Chicago on home ice.

Goalie of The Day: Yaroslav Askarov - SJ

Yaroslav Askarov has been lights out at home, and his matchup on paper is also very good. The Canucks are a below-average hockey team, and they won’t have Thatcher Demko or Kevin Lankinen available for this game. The Sharks are still a work in progress, but this is more about San Jose and Askarov picking up the win. His $8100 price tag on DK is up there, but sometimes, we gotta pay for talent.

Player of The Day: Macklin Celebrini - SJ

There are so many elite options to choose from tonight, but for me, Macklin Celebrini is at the top of the list. We’ve already talked about the Canucks having to turn to their third-string goalie, so this is a spot where Celebrini can feast. He’s up to 34 points on the year and can rack up multiple points and shots. 

Honourable Mention: Jake Sanderson - OTT

I don’t usually put a defenceman here, but the disrespect around Jake Sanderson needs to stop. He’s $5900 on DK despite having 18 points in 23 games. Of those 18 points, 11 have come on the road. He’s the quarterback on the top power play unit, can shoot the puck and can even block shots. He also has a matchup with the Blues, a team that doesn’t do anything well. The floor for him tonight is crazy high, so if DK is going to give him to us at a discount, we will take it.

Value Play of The Day: Easton Cowan - TOR

This is a tough matchup for the Leafs on the road, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find value. If everything stays as-is, Easton Cowan should be skating on the second line with John Tavares and William Nylander, and on the top power play unit. Toronto has its issues on the back end and in goal, but they can fill the net. Cowan is $3500 and is getting the opportunity to play with elite players. I’d like to see his ice time be above 15 minutes, but we can’t have everything we want in life.
