NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 11/22

 

Stars vs. Flames Prediction 

This is starting to become a trend this season already but fading off the Flames has netted me some good money. At 6-13-3 they are one of the league's worst teams and they'll be walking into a tough one against the Stars tonight who have won 7 of their last 10 games. Their offense is above league average scoring 3.24 goals per game but defense is where they really shine allowing just 2.76 goals per game the 7th fewest in the NHL. They'll have the advantage in net tonight as well with Jake Oettinger scheduled to man the pipes and he is 5-1-1 on the road this season with 2.8 GAA. He will duel against Dustin Wolf 5-11-2 overall this season with a SV% under .900, which as you hockey fans know is the threshold in goaltending stats. Considering the implied goals and trends I think the price on the Money Line is a nice value for the Stars in a game they should control.

Senators vs. Sharks Prediction 

Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that a game between the Senators and Sharks could be the highest scoring game on the slate but here we are! The Sharks young stars are hot, and the offense has improved greatly with 7 goals over the last pair of games. On the Senators side they are taking care of business on the road scoring 3.56 goals per game the 3rd most in the NHL right now. Ottawa has also gone over in 12 of 20 games this season and they are additionally over in 6 of 9 road games. Given these numbers I am a bit surprised to see the total at just 5.5 goals on most books, but I will take it! Expect this one to be full of action and scoring.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day: Scott Wedgewood - COL

It has yet to be confirmed who the goalie will be for the Avalanche tonight but regardless their netminder is in a great spot tonight. Wedgewood is 21-1-2 on the season with a 2.23 GAA and the Predators offense is generating just 2.4 goals per game and 27 shots on goal. That number on the goals is the 2nd fewest in the NHL and considering the Colorado defense allows 2.4 goals per game the 5th best in hockey I would say the position for a Avs goalie tonight is top of the line in this slate. 

Player of The Day: Nathan MacKinnon - COL

There's a trend going on here today and it's an all-Avalanche agenda. MacKinnon is the league leading goal scorer coming into tonight with 16 on the young season and I see no reason why the Predators are going to slow him down. He has 12 points over the last 5 games and Nashville allows 3.5 goals per game, 7th most in the NHL and they surrender 28.4 shots per game. Floor is high here and the ceiling is even higher; MacKinnon is a lock tonight. 

Value Play of The Day: Will Smith - SJ

I spoke on the best bets section that I thought this Sharks and Senators matchup could be a sneaky high scoring game tonight and that makes me love the Sharks top line. Will Smith is playing alongside Macklin Celebrini right now and that kid is red hot plus Smith mans the top power play unit as well. The Senators allow the 9th most DFS points to right wingers this season and at 4.5k you really just need an assist and some shots to make the play worth your while.
