NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 11/16

New York Islanders vs Colorado Avalanche Prediction

This matchup is going to be in the Playbook a lot. The Islanders are currently on an eight-game road trip and have been very successful, winning the first four. They have gone past regulation three times, but a win is a win. That being said, this is their third game in four nights, and they have a date with the Avalanche, who don’t lose on home ice.

Colorado has one regulation loss, and they are scoring over 4.11 goals per game. Their defence has also been really good. Scott Wedgewood is confirmed to start this game, and his numbers have been nothing short of amazing this year. This is a clear mismatch on paper, so we’ll take the Avalanche to come away with the win and cover the Puck Line

Goalie of The Day: Scott Wedgewood - COL

The goalie crop for today is less than ideal, so we are just going to play it safe. As mentioned above, this is a smash spot for the Avalanche and Scott Wedgewood. He’s the most expensive goalie on the slate, but sometimes, you just have to swallow the chalk and move on.

Player of The Day: Nathan MacKinnon - COL

Fading Nathan MacKinnon tonight is just not something I want to do. He is $9500 on DraftKings, but he’s also producing over 23 fantasy points per game. He is hitting value regularly, so some could even argue that his price tag isn’t high enough! He’s going to be a very popular play tonight, but again, sometimes we have to eat the chalk.

Value Play of The Day: Max Sasson - VAN

We hit with Ryan Green last night, and we are going right back to a very affordable centre option. Max Sasson is on the second line and scored a goal last game, yet his price tag is $2500 on DK. The Lightning are banged up, and Andrei Vasilevskiy is having a tough time stopping pucks on home ice. This is a boom-or-bust play, but at his price tag, even if he doesn’t produce much, it allows you to spend up elsewhere.
