There are a handful of big matchups for some select offenses tonight so those will be the targets in daily fantasy of course. We have some very good matchups to cover, so let’s get into the action.

For the NHL Bets, we are going to start off very slowly. It’s a new year, and things around the league are going to be different. We don’t have stats yet to work with, so most recommendations are going to be educated guesses. Don’t blow your (bankroll) load in the first week of action. NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 10/28

 

Frozen Frenzy Grand Salami 

All 32 teams are in action tonight in what will look like NFL Red Zone but instead it will be hockey! This rarely happens in the NHL schedule so I want to root for some fun tonight so how about wagering on the total goals scored tonight? The number sits at 98.5 goals which is a very fair line considering that means the games will need to score 6.18 goals per game. The league average of goals per game was actually 6.23 last season though so the over should have the edge plus the good offenses are in great matchups tonight so maybe we see some double digit games. Let's all root for fun and for the over on the this total tonight. 

Pick: Daily Total Goals Over 98.5 (-110 on DraftKings)

Red Wings vs. Blues Prediction

These two teams just played each other a few days ago and that score featured 10 total goals! I don't imagine much can change in a few days especially considering the Blues gave up 6 goals last night and now face a Detroit team that is tied for 10th in goals per game at 3.33. Could be a long night for the Blues but there should be ways they can put up some goals too as the Red Wings in their own end allow 3.22 goals per game. 

Maybe its just the frozen frenzy talking but I like the over here tonight as I do in a handful of other games but this one is definitely a favorite so bet on that over.

Goalie of The Day: Anthony Stolarz - TOR

I fully understand that Stolarz has not played well overall this season so far but he is in by far the easiest matchup on the slate today so he garners my attention. The Flames are scoring just 2 goals per game which is dead last in the NHL right now and the Leafs play good defense overall as well. May not be a super ceiling play tonight but its for sure the safest. 

Player of The Day: Dylan Larkin - DET

This guy is a man possessed so far this season with 13 points which is good enough for a tied 9th spot in the overall points leaderboard. The total ice time above 20 minutes is also huge to go along with his 27 shots through 9 games. The floor is established but the upside is massive especially against a Blues team that is all the sudden bleeding goals left and right, lock him into the lineups. 

Value Play of The Day: Drake Batherson - OTT

I am pleased but surprised that this guy is only 5k tonight considering he has 4 goals in the last 2 games and is playing much bigger minutes with Brady Tkachuk out of the lineup. Its top line and top powerplay living for the winger right now and this matchup against the Blackhawks is a doozy as they allow 30 shots per game and 3.54 expected goals per game.
