Welcome to the second week of hockey action on the Fantasy Alarm NHL Playbook this Tuesday! I am excited to bring this article to you again this season, and I can't wait to build another winning season in betting and daily fantasy.

NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today 10/9

Seattle Kraken vs. Detroit Red Wings: Friday, October 9th

Its still extremely yearly in the season but it seems to me that the Kraken are having trouble with playing teams above them. They have a pair of wins on the season but both have come against Calgary, the well known worst team in hockey. Their losses have been smackdowns against the Oilers and Golden Knights so there's a trend to follow here tonight. 

I don't want to claim that the Red Wings are on the same level as Vegas or Edmonton but they are certainly a better team than Calgary and the numbers show it. Through three games the Red Wings have an expected goals total of 6.1 and a xGA of just 3.9. This shows they are playing plus hockey, even if its only been three games. 

John Gibson also gives Detroit a leg up tonight as he's been very good in his starts so far this season with a 2.37 GAA .903 SV% and has a strong home record spanning back to last season. The Red Wings are only mid-market favorites tonight and I plan on banking that for our gain, Detroit Money Line no doubt.

Goalie of The Day

Logan Thompson, WSH

Its been a fine start to the season for one of last year's best goalies in the league. Thompson is 2-0-0 thus far and just allowed just five goals for a 2.5 GAA and .921 SV%. Tonight he faces a Rangers team that has struggled scoring in their two road games with just two total goals. This game is also the lowest total on the board, good spot to plug in a goalie I think. 

Player of The Day:

Kyle Connor, WPG

Not all things are sunshine and rainbows for the Jets these days but they do have a prime matchup. In fact the Jets have the 2nd highest implied goal total on the slate. Connor figures to be a multi shot candidate on most nights but I smell a goal for him here tonight. 

Value Play of The Day:

Tommy Novak, PIT

At 4k on DraftKings this is an absolute steal as Novak has been the most productive Penguin so far this season. He has five points in four games and anchors the Pittsburgh second line of Evgeni Malkin and Egor Chinakov. Great spot and a great price for us today. 

Defenseman Play of the Day

Moritz Seider, DET

He has become the main man on the blue line for the Red Wings that last couple of years and now he commands the powerplay once again. The Wings have the highest implied goal total on the slate tonight and should load up points for all involved. 

Top Stack of the Day

Jets Line 1

Jets are going to score goals against this putrid Ducks defense so let's go ahead and load up on their most talented line. Mark Scheifele is fresh off a 40 goal season, Kyle Connor is one of the leagues best power forwards and Cole Perfetti has a knack of being in the right place for the other two to make things happen.
