NHL Best Bets & DFS Cheat Sheet, 10/6: Picks, Predictions & Player Props
Published: Oct 06, 2026
Welcome to the second week of hockey action on the Fantasy Alarm NHL Playbook this Tuesday! I am excited to bring this article to you again this season, and I can't wait to build another winning season in betting and daily fantasy.
If you are new here, then let me say welcome to Fantasy Alarm and thank you for checking out our top-tier NHL coverage! I will also tell you that early-season betting in this sport is all about slow rolling and data collection. Unlike most sports, hockey teams turn over a great deal in the offseason, from coaches to goalies and different forward lines. No two seasons are the same, so when you place your bets in these opening weeks, keep BANKROLL MANAGEMENT in mind. You will see many bets to start this NHL season are a quarter unit or half unit; that is by design!
This is your one-stop shop for everything DFS-related for tonight's nine-game slate! We are in the first full month of the NHL season, so let's get out there and make it count. There are many games to choose from and many ways to make a winning lineup! We have some very good matchups to cover, so let’s get into the action.
For the NHL Bets, there are plenty of angles to attack on the slate, and some spots might surprise you! Check out the wagers and if you like the rationale, then tail them. You can find all wagers here on the NHL Bet Tracker.

NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today 10/6
Florida Panthers vs. Los Angeles Kings: Tuesday, October 6th
When the season started many of us thought the Kings would struggle with the departure of Anze Kopitar and the injury rehab of Kevin Fiala, but it's been a bit worse than even I thought it would be.
The Kings' defense is nowhere to be found through their opening couple of games as they've allowed 13 total goals and have been outscored seven to three at even strength. Tonight they'll host the Florida Panthers; many analysts have picked them to win the Stanley Cup, and it's going to be rough going for the home team Kings. Through three games, the Panthers have given up just one even-strength goal, and their Corsi percentage is the fourth best in the NHL thus far at 58.65%.
With it being early in the season and the Panthers on a West Coast trip, I understand why the line for the Money Line is as close as it is, but in my mind the Panthers take the Kings to the woodshed tonight and claim a road win.
- Pick: Panthers ML (-120 on FanDuel Sportsbook) Half-Unit Play
Nashville Predators vs. Toronto Maple Leafs: Tuesday, October 6th
For a pair of teams that are considered to be weak defensively, I find it odd that neither team has played in a game this season that has hit the over on the game total. Looking over the matchup tonight, though, I think that changes tonight.
Nashville on their side hasn't generated enough offense with just 3.69 expected goals total in their pair of games, but they are also cracking on defense with a Corsi rating of just 43.56%. That means the shots are piling in on them, and against a Maple Leafs front loaded with talent that's playing with fire.
On the Toronto side, they are getting lucky to put it plainly. They've played three games and have an expected goals against total of nearly 11 in those games, but they've only surrendered seven goals. This game is rated as having the second-highest pace projection on the entire slate and with the total dipping to just 5.5, I think some stats correct themselves tonight and I am taking the over.
- Pick: Predators & Maple Leafs Over 5.5 (-130 on FanDuel Sportsbook) Half-Unit Play
Best NHL Prop Bets & Other Picks: Today 10/6
- Tomas Hertl (VGK) Over 2.5 Shots (+125 on DraftKings Sportsbook) Half-Unit Play
- Blues ML (-140 on FanDuel Sportsbook) Half-Unit Play
- Dylan Guenther (UTA) Over 2.5 Shots (-125 on BetMGM Sportsbook) Half-Unit Play
Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks
Goalie of The Day
Joel Hofer, STL
Shoutout to our guy Tulo here, the only Blues fan I know! Hofer was excellent in his only game played this season with a 25-save shutout against the Stars, which is no picnic facing them. Tonight, he has a simpler task against the Blackhawks, who are projected to score just 2.6 goals tonight and have scored only five in three games this season.
Player of The Day:
Jack Eichel, VGK
One of the best matchups on the slate today is the Golden Knights taking on the Kraken. Vegas has the highest implied goal total today at 3.6, and they pace the field by a large margin there. Eichel is on the ice for everything Vegas does and has six points through three games; easy plug-in here.
Value Play of The Day:
Steven Stamkos, NSH
With two points in two games, old Stamkos is still chugging along here this season, and he remains under 6k, which is very attractive in a matchup against the Maple Leafs. I spoke in the bets about how this game could go over the total, and Stamkos stands to benefit. In 56 regular season games against the Leafs, the veteran winger has 24 goals and 44 assists, not too shabby.
Defenseman Play of the Day
Mikhail Sergachev, UTA
It's early, but the Mammoth look frisky this season, and they have another good matchup tonight against the Devils. New Jersey has allowed the most DFS points to blue liners so far this season, and Sergachev already has three points in three games. Seems like a great play at the D-man spot tonight.
Top Stack of the Day
Blues Line 1
Last season, this was statistically one of the best lines in hockey by analytics, and now they get the prime matchup we have been waiting for. Robert Thomas, Jimmy Snuggerud, and Dylan Holloway should skate around this matchup unimpeded against Chicago, and I can't wait for this stack to load us all up with points.
