Welcome into another week of hockey action on the Fantasy Alarm NHL Playbook this Wednesday! Every team in the NHL has now played at least 10 games this season and you know what that means right? We are now rolling out FULL UNIT bets unless otherwise noted in the article! I thank everyone for their patience as I recalibrated the data for a new NHL season, its time to go on the attack now!

NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today 10/28

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Washington Capitals: Wednesday, October 28th

On this smaller slate of NHL games on hump day we have a battle of the Metro on tap! The Flyers have been a more competitive team of late but they are still losers of seven of their last ten games. The Capitals on the other hand are living dangerously allowing just as many goals as they score these days. How does this matchup shake out? Let's go into the numbers. 

The Capitals are one of the leagues best offenses and that's great considering how much money they spent on players like Alex Tuch, Jordan Kyrou and re-singed Ryan Leonard to a big boy deal. Over the past ten games the Caps rank 6th in the NHL in even strength goals with 2.6 per game. By comparison the Flyers are scoring 1.1 goals within the same parameters. 

Now the defense is the Achilles heel for the Capitals as they've allowed 2.3 goals at even strength but at least Logan Thompson practiced in full yesterday so he may go tonight. If Thompson plays with his 2.18 GAA at home last season then Washington should win this one in regulation. Give me the Caps to take home the 60-min money line tonight as the money line by itself is much too chalky.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day: Logan Thompson/Charlie Lindgren, WSH

We don't know who the starter is here but either way its a great matchup against a Flyers team that is struggling to score goals. Capitals also control possession in large part so these goalies just need to be sharp in small samples of the game. 

Player of The Day: Connor McDavid, EDM

There's a four game slate and McDavid isn't in your lineup? Couldn't be me, especially against the Flames. Calgary allows the second most DFS points to centers on the season and nobody is better than 97 right now with 34 points in 12 games. 

Value Play of The Day: Nick Paul, TOR

With John Tavares on the shelf injured Nick Paul is moving up the lineup for the Leafs of late. He is centering a line of Marchenko and William Nylander and getting over 17 minutes of ice time a night. Hard to beat that exposure for a 3.3k price tag at DK. 

Defenseman Play of the Day: Cale Makar, COL

The Devils are on a second leg of a back to back and the New Jersey is not hampering blue liners to say the least this season. Defenseman are scoring the 2nd most points per game against them in DFS on the season and Makar is pointless in two games coming in. Time for stats to correct themselves in a positive way here. 

Top Stack of the Day: Oilers Forward Line 1

The Flames are bad at hockey and do not play defense very well. That's it that's the tweet. McDavid, Draisaitl and Podkozin, fire it up.
