Nothing has changed from last season, so get ready for another year of Best Bets, DFS recommendations, and the unpredictable nature of goalies.

Before we dive into the fun, I want to remind everyone that the start of the season is often very volatile. We’ll be using last season's data, and not everything will translate perfectly to the 2026-27 season (unless we’re talking about Edmonton’s goaltending situation being #NotGood, which remains consistent). Be cautious with your bankroll in the first week of action. We have an entire year ahead of us, so let’s take it slow and build up to something great, like prom night. Keep units small so your wins can grow as the season progresses.

🔥 Boston Bruins vs Winnipeg Jets Prediction

The Winnipeg Jets begin their 2026-27 season at home against the Boston Bruins. However, they will be without Connor Hellebuyck, who is currently seeking a trade. Stuart Skinner is expected to start in goal, but he does not match his teammates' skill level. Although the team made some offseason changes, little evidence suggests they will improve this year.

On the other hand, Boston opened the season with a convincing 3-0 victory against the Rangers and is looking to build on that success. The Bruins have good depth in their forward lineup, but their defence will face challenges. If they can effectively contain Winnipeg's top line, they should secure a win. We predict that the Bruins will cover the Money Line while playing on the road.

🔥 New York Rangers vs Detroit Red Wings Prediction

The New York Rangers are playing the final game of a back-to-back set and have competed three times in the last four nights. However, opportunities remain. Although he has only played two games so far, Pavel Dorofeyev seems to be adjusting well to his new team. He has recorded 10 shots in those two games while averaging just over 14 minutes of ice time per game. The Detroit Red Wings will be without their captain, Dylan Larkin, due to injury, and their defence leaves much to be desired. Given Dorofeyev's ability to make the most of limited opportunities, we can expect him to continue his strong performance tonight.

🏅Goalie of the Day: Logan Thompson - WSH

This matchup looks challenging for Washington on paper, but their offseason improvements give them the potential to hand Carolina their second loss of the season. Their offence is strong, the blue line is solid, and Logan Thompson is an elite goaltender. His price on DraftKings is quite affordable given his skill set, so we plan to take advantage of that and hope Washington can secure a victory.

🏅Honourable Mention: Carter Hart - VGK

Carter Hart had a strong season debut and will look to maintain that momentum in tonight's matchup against the Ducks. Although Anaheim has lost some key players, their offence is still capable of scoring. Hart's price tag of $8,100 is higher than I'd prefer, but if you're seeking a goalie with a good chance of winning, he's the best choice. He can be utilized in all formats if you're comfortable spending up.

🏅Skater of the Day: Jack Eichel -VGK

Jack Eichel delivered an impressive performance against the Chicago Blackhawks a few nights ago, accumulating three points in just 18 minutes of ice time. Eichel is talented at both scoring and setting up his teammates, and with the Anaheim defence struggling, Vegas should have no trouble generating offence. His price is also quite reasonable, making him a solid option in all formats.

🏅Honourable Mention: Jason Robertson - DAL

There is a lot to appreciate about Jason Robertson. He is an elite winger with great shooting ability and a knack for creating scoring opportunities. Although St. Louis made some offseason changes and added depth to their lineup, Robertson can still find the back of the net. I prefer him as a standalone player in all formats, but he can also be included in any Dallas Stars power play stack.

🏅Value Play of the Day: Jackson LaCombe - ANA

You might argue that $5K for a defenseman on DK isn’t a bargain, but for Jackson LaCombe, it definitely is. He is unquestionably the top defenseman on the team, and there’s a significant gap between him and the others. LaCombe is set to log a lot of minutes in all situations, giving him a very high floor. He also quarterbacks a power-play unit that can be quite dangerous. He can shoot the puck, accumulate points, and even get some blocks—qualities we value in DFS.

🏅Top Stack of the Day: Dallas PP1

The Blues finished 25th in the penalty kill (PK) rankings last season. Although they added some depth to their roster, many players from last season are likely to continue handling penalty-killing duties. In contrast, Dallas excelled on the power play, finishing second, and they can draw penalties effectively.

If you're looking for maximum upside, consider targeting a stack of players including Jason Robertson, Wyatt Johnston, and Mikko Rantanen. If you want to save salary, you can replace Rantanen with Miro Heiskanen.
