NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 1/3
Â
Wild vs. Kings PredictionÂ
Outside of the amazing Avalanche the Wild are my pick as the 2nd best team in the NHL right now and they've got another good matchup on the road tonight. The Kings offense has been nowhere to be found recently as over the last 10 games they're scoring just 2.2 goals per game while allowing 3 goals. That puts them in a tough spot against a Wild team that has 12 road wins already this season and is averaging 4.1 goals a game over their last 10, which is the 2nd most in the league. Darcy Kuemper will start for the Kings and that does make things a bit closer of Jesper Wallstedt of the Wild has been better with a 2.2 GAA and .928 SV%. The Wild should not be underdogs tonight but the books have made them such and we will go ahead and take that plus money wager to the bank.Â
Pick: Stars 60-Min Money Line (+105 on DraftKings)
Other Best Bets/Props
- Maple Leafs & Islanders Under 6 Goals (-120 on BetMGM)
- Jets & Senators Under 6 Goals (-120 on BetMGM)
- David Pastrnak (BOS) Over 3.5 Shots (+110 on DraftKings)

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks
Goalie of The Day - Jesper Wallstedt - MIN
I expect this game to be slower than the rest of the slate as that's the kind of game the Kings want to make you play. The Wild no doubt have the upper hand in this one though and the Kings defense is as bad as it gets in the NHL right now. Wallstedt has been steady all season and shouldn't been tested too much tonight regardless so he will be a nice floor play and a player I expect to get some win equity as well.Â
Player of The Day: David Pastrnak - BOS
The Vancouver defense has been great to fade in DFS all season long and that continues today even if the Bruins are having issues scoring. Canucks are allowing nearly 31 shots against per game and the goaltending has been suspect all season long. Pasta will be on the ice a ton and the Canucks allow the most DFS points to right wingers on the season so this one is a no brainer for me. In addition to it all you get to hold the late night hammer with this play and I love having that in the arsenal.Â
Value Play of The Day: Mikael Backlund - CGY
This one is a sneaky value tonight as many DFS players won't have anything to do with this game but the Flames have scored 3.9 goals over their last 10 games and have won 7 games in that span. Backlund anchors the 3rd line but they are that in name only getting plenty of minutes and I like the way Blake Coleman is playing out on the wing right now too. Nashville will be on the road with a poor defense so at 4k Backlund is great salary relief with upside for an expensive slate.Â
