NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 1/29

 

Flyers vs. Bruins Prediction 

In a night with a slate this big there will be a lot of directions to go in but for me it starts with this matchup of Philadelphia and Boston. The Flyers are falling from grace and fast with losing 8 of their last 10 during which time they've allowed 4.7 goals per game! Add to the list that they got smoked last night to the Blue Jackets and have to travel again today you have a recipe for disaster. The home side Bruins on the other hand have won 8 of their last 10 and are one of the hottest teams in hockey coming into tonight. They're the 4th highest scoring team over the past 10 games at 3.9 goals scored while allowing just 2.4 goals against on the back end. Jeremy Swayman deserves a lot of credit in net for that stat but the team in front has been so good as well. The pick is a little juicy but I am in the business of picking the winners I like regardless of what the books give so Bruins Money Line tonight in a game they should absolutley roll the Flyers.

Mammoth vs. Hurricanes Prediction 

Its a cross conference matchup between a pair of teams in playoff position here tonight as Utah hits the east coast to take on Carolina. Both teams have played some great hockey of late winning a combined 15 of their last 20 games and the name of their games has been defense. In the last 10 games the Hurricanes have given up just 2.1 goals per game while the Mammoth have allowed only 2.2 goals! Both marks are firmly in the NHL's Top 5 right now and the goaltenders responsible are expected to suit up as well. Brandon Bussi is the big name to watch as he's burst onto the scene for Carolina and on home ice this season the goalie has allowed just a 1.98 GAA and is 12-1-0! On the other side Karel Vejmelka of the Mammoth is playing his best hockey of the season in January with a 9-2-0 record a 2.18 GAA and .918 SV%. This one is going to be an awesome game but I feel like goals will be tough to come by so it'll be an under wager for me.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day - John Gibson - DET

The Red Wings are firmly in playoff position right now and the team in humming along like we haven't seen in few seasons. This is in large part thanks to the revival of Gibson who has won 17 of this last 20 games while posting a 2.05 GAA and .930 SV%! The man is on fire right now and the Capitals offense is stuck in the mud of late averaging just 2.8 goals scored over their last 10 outings. Gibson should smash tonight in the DFS lineups and I will have him everywhere. 

Player of The Day: David Pastrnak - BOS

I wrote a bit about why I love the Bruins today in the best bets portion but at a DFS level the Flyers are a perfect spot to attack for Boston and their lineup. Pastrnak is of course as the top of the list as he has 25 points over 13 games this month and has a least a point in every game but 1 during that stretch. Flyers allow the 8th most DFS points per game to right wingers as well so big time game should be upcoming for Pasta and the Bruins. 

Value Play of The Day: Anthony Duclair - NYI

We saw it just last night but the Rangers are giving up on the season already and Panarin on the shelf and the night they get blown out is the final nail in the coffin. That means the Islanders find themselves in a great spot tonight and most of the wingers are cheap including Duclair! The winger is on the 2nd line and top powerplay unit and has collected 12 points over the 11 games he's played in January. Hard to beat those numbers for a player at 3.9k over on DraftKings, sign me up!
