NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 1/26

Anaheim Ducks vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction

The Anaheim Ducks delivered for us yesterday, but asking them to win again tonight might be unrealistic. They are facing the second game of a back-to-back and their third game in four nights. While their seven-game winning streak is impressive, especially after previously losing nine in a row, they are up against tough odds. The Edmonton Oilers are strong on home ice and are riding high after defeating the Washington Capitals. On paper, they are the better team and can exploit Anaheim’s injury problems in the center position. The game may start off close, but as it progresses, Edmonton is likely to take control and secure a fairly easy victory.

Goalie of the Day: Tristan Jarry - EDM

Tristan Jarry is likely to be a popular choice tonight. Although the Oilers are heavy favourites, there is still some risk involved. While Jarry has a good chance of winning, that doesn’t guarantee he will deliver value. Anaheim struggled to generate offence against the Flames, so we shouldn’t expect them to come out aggressively. Nevertheless, Jarry is a reliable option if you’re aiming for a win.

Honourable Mention: Joonas Korpisalo - BOS

At first glance, this recommendation may seem concerning, but we shouldn't overlook how poor the Rangers have been at scoring goals at home. They've struggled as an offensive team all year, so what is likely to change tonight? The Bruins have been performing reasonably well lately, including Korpisalo, who is 3-0 in his last three starts. He also comes with a very appealing price tag. I'm more than willing to take my chances with him in a GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool) contest.

Player of the Day: Connor McDavid - EDM

Sometimes you have to face a tough situation with a positive attitude. Connor McDavid finished the last game with five points and nine shots on goal, earning an impressive 52.8 fantasy points on DraftKings. While we can consider betting against him, if he performs exceptionally well, it becomes nearly impossible to catch up. Instead, we should look for value elsewhere to help offset his very high price tag.

Honourable Mention: David Pastrnak - BOS

If you're looking to take a risk, David Pastrnak is a great option. He has registered points in his last six games and has a favourable matchup against the Rangers' starting goalie. We know he is a prolific shooter, and the Bruins' success largely depends on his performance. We might even find him at a lower price due to Connor McDavid’s high salary.

Value Play of the Day: Radko Gudas - ANA

We need some budget-friendly players for our lineup, and the one who stands out the most is Radko Gudas. The veteran defenseman is skilled at blocking a significant number of shots, and he might be very busy tonight. Although his ice time is usually under 20 minutes per game, which isn't ideal, hitting the blocked shots bonus is what really counts. As long as he doesn't finish with a zero, we should be in good shape.
