NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 1/15

 

Kraken vs. Bruins Prediction 

Its a battle of two top tier defensive teams over the past couple of weeks here as the Kraken cross the country to take on the Bruins! This will not be a game I invest in heavily for DFS tonight but it is a sure fire wagering matchup. Over the past 10 games the Kraken have been the 3rd best team defensively when it comes to goals allowed at just 2.3 per game. Their expected number is of course a bit higher but they are battening down the hatches in a big way. On the Bruins side of things they're allowing just 2.6 goals per game during the same time period and their goaltending Jeremy Swayman has been lights out allowing just 10 goals over 4 starts so far this month. Both teams slow roll the pace on offense as well and aren't loaded with goal scoring depth, for that reason I will be taking the under here tonight. 

Pick: Kraken & Bruins Under 6 Goals (-110 on BetMGM)

Sharks vs. Capitals Prediction 

This is one of those games where the Capitals just have to have it. They've struggled a bit in the past month but they are finally winning again as they have 6 of their last 10. They're scoring 3.6 goals per game during that span and it is confirmed that Logan Thompson will man the cage behind the team. Thompson has exceptional numbers on home ice this season with a 2.21 GAA and .915 SV% which gives the Capitals a huge leg up as the entire Sharks game plan is offense first. I say this because the Sharks have given up 4.4 goals per game over the past 10 and if they get stuck on the scoring front they won't be able to save their poor defense. Caps are heavily favored for a reason tonight and they should get a big home win tonight, I will take them to win outright in regulation.

Goalie of The Day - Jeremy Swayman - BOS

I am on an absolute run with picking the goalie of the night from Vejmelka to Skinner and many more! At some point the luck will run out but it doesn't have to be tonight! For this slate we throw ourselves behind Swayman who has had an awesome January so far and will get a high volume of shots as the Bruins allow 29 per game during their last 10 contests. Kraken have been scoring a lot of goals but going cross country is tough on teams and the Bruins are a pesky team so let's roll out the pride of Anchorage tonight. 

Player of The Day: Sidney Crosby - PIT

Go ahead Morias and TuloFlow call me a homer but hear me out on this one. Crosby has been a menace to the Flyers over the course of his career with 59 goals and 78 assists over 92 games played. The greatest player of a generation loves to play the Flyers, simple as that. On top of that the Flyers played last night and both goalies got rocked so they are weary and traveling, Crosby is going to have himself a day!

Value Play of The Day: Alexandre Texier - MTL

This game won't get the attention it deserves but it could be one of the higher scoring contests on the slate. Buffalo has been playing great defense but they played last night and that means a backup goaltender! Montreal will be licking their chops and as an offense has scored 3.6 per game over the last 10. Texier has been a big part of that as this month over 8 games he has 10 points and 17 shots on goal playing on the Habs top line. At 3.9k I imagine it'll be hard to find a better value tonight.
