NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 11/5

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Calgary Flames Prediction

Maybe I’m missing something (which has been the trend of late), but why are the Calgary Flames favourites to win tonight? Their offence is terrible, their goaltending has been an issue, and Columbus has a 4-3-0 record on the road. I understand that the Blue Jackets give up way too many shots against, but Jet Greaves has been up to the challenge, something we can’t say about Dustin Wolf. This feels like a trap, but like the St. Louis Blues’ season, I’m going down with it.

Goalie of The Day: Logan Thompson - WSH

I understand why some people are afraid to play Logan Thompson, but he should not be $200 cheaper than Kevin Lankinen on DraftKings. Thompson has put up elite numbers this season-- posting a 1.51 GAA and a .935 SV%-- but he just isn’t getting enough goal support from his team. That should be less of an issue tonight with the Blues in town, a team that is giving up four goals per game. I like his chances to pick up the win and hit value.

Player of The Day: Zach Werenski - CBJ

You know exactly what you’re getting with Zach Werenski every time he steps on the ice. He’s been just as productive on the road as at home, and his floor is always high, making him a great cash game option. If you don’t want to stack the Blue Jackets, you can still get exposure to them with Werenski

Value Play of The Day: Philipp Kurashev - SJ

Is anyone else just finding out that Philipp Kurashev is on a five-game point streak and has eight points in that span? That’s correct! He’s also seeing over 20 minutes of ice time in that span. He’s shooting the puck a ton and has a spot on the second line. His matchup on paper against Seattle is rough, but he’s $3200 on DK, and at that price point, I’ll take my chances with him in a GPP.
