NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 11/13

 

Sabres vs. Avalanche Prediction 

As is tradition the Avalanche are humming along this season at home with a record of 5-0-2. They get a Sabres team on the 2nd night of a back to back tonight as well and the Avs offense scoring 4.14 goals per game at home is going to expose them. That's bad news for the Sabres tonight who have not played well on the road at all the last several seasons and this year is no different. They are winless in 6 games on the road at 0-4-2 and I don't think they'll be finding that first victory either as they give up a whopping 4.2 goals per game on the road this season. That mark is 3rd highest in the NHL so give me the numbers and trends to continue tonight and I will take the Avalanche to win on the Puck Line.  

Pick: Avalanche Puck Line -1.5 (-135 on BetMGM)

Sharks vs. Flames Prediction 

Don't look now but the San Jose Sharks are competitive again! They have played some darn good hockey over the past month and heading into Calgary to take on the Flames they are riding a 4 game winning streak that has seen them score 13 goals while allowing just 4 goals. That puts the Flames in a tricky spot as they've played poorly this season and are 2-4-1 on home ice scoring only 2.29 goals per game. The Sharks are younger, faster and playing with more confidence so I don't actually understand why they are the underdogs in this matchup tonight but I will take it! Let's cash in some plus money tonight on the red hot Sharks.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day: Connor Hellebuyck - WPG

Seems like last year's Vezina Trophy winner is often a bit underpriced when it comes to DFS, no problem with that but a little odd. Hellebuyck is back to his greatness again this season with a 2.35 GAA and .921 SV% and tonight faces off against the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken are a decent team but they really struggle to score on offense. According to expected goals metrics the Kraken are dead last in the NHL at 2.74 expected goals and that makes the Jets star a must play for me tonight. 

Player of The Day: Dylan Larkin - DET

The Larkin play parallels the fantasy football world in which you also start players against the Bengals because they are going to be shootouts and in the NHL the Ducks are the Bengals. In terms of expected goals the Ducks play 7 goal games every night and that means plenty of points are on the table for Larkin and the Red Wings. He has 9 goals and 19 points on the season and at 7.8k over on DraftKings he must be in my lineups tonight.  

Value Play of The Day: Will Smith - SJ

I am going to try to fit in a few Sharks tonight but I had to highlight Will Smith as he's in the 4k range right now despite being on the top line with Macklin Celebrini and powerplay unit. Smith is averaging 10.3 DFS points per game and has 7 goals so far this season. He has had double digit DFS points in 4 straight games and its a decent matchup against the Flames tonight.
