Welcome to the Fantasy Alarm NHL Playbook. This is your one-stop shop for everything DFS related for tonight’s four-game slate. It might be a smaller Friday slate, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t good matchups to exploit. Let’s dive into the numbers and see what players we need to be targeting.

For the NHL Bets, we are going to start off very slowly. It’s a new year, and things around the league are going to be different. We don’t have stats yet to work with, so most recommendations are going to be educated guesses. Don’t blow your (bankroll) load in the first week of action. We got a whole year together, so let’s get to work. You can get every expect pick, including mine, right here.

Lightning vs Red Wings Prediction

It’s been a difficult start to the season for the Lightning, who are just 1-2-1 on the year. Andrei Vasilevskiy doesn’t have very good numbers, but if there’s a goalie that can bounce back, it’s him.

That being said, the Red Wings have been red hot, winners of three in a row and showing no signs of slowing down. John Gibson is getting the call, and he’s going to want to have a much better performance than he did in his season debut, where he couldn’t finish the game. The Lightning are getting too much respect despite the numbers not backing them, so we’ll take the Detroit Money Line at plus-money.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day: Filip Gustavsson - MIN

It hasn’t been a smooth start to the season for Filip Gustavsson, but this is a good matchup for him. Minnesota is scoring goals in bunches, and its power play is operating at 45%, which is beyond elite. Washington is great defensively, and their goaltending has been rock solid, but they can’t score, averaging just 2.25 per game. Gustavsson has a nice price point and allows you to still pay up at other positions.

Player of The Day: Matt Boldy - MIN

I have no problem with anyone who wants to target Kiril Kaprizov, but if you want to save some salary, Matt Boldy is the way to go. He had TEN shots last game and now has 8 points in 4 games. As mentioned above, the power play is red hot, and if that continues, Boldy’s number will be a career high. If you can afford both, great! If you want to take just one, it’s Boldy

Value Play of The Day: Zeev Buium - MIN

I didn’t expect to have three Minnesota players in the Playbook when I sat down, but I can’t just ignore Zeev Buium. The rookie is now up to 5 points in 4 games, and DraftKings continues to keep his price tag right around $4K. This will change as the season goes on, so take advantage of this price point and move on.
