Oilers vs. Panthers Prediction: Game 2, June 10th

As mentioned in my opening section of this article, I was impressed with the play of the Oilers in Game 1 and, as hockey goes, the team with the better play doesn’t always win thanks to Sergei Bobrovsky! The Panthers goaltender made 32 saves and clocked in a xGSA of 5.61 – what a performance. 

As we move into tonight though, I am thinking about how Edmonton deserved better and if they can perform like that again, they have a really good shot at winning this game. They generated 5.61 expected goals due to high danger scoring chances while the Panthers sat at just 1.88 expected goals. A lot of this comes down to finishing chances, especially on the powerplay where the Oilers went 0-3 in Game 1, but they will also need more help from Stuart Skinner in net who stopped just 15 of 17 shots faced. 

It’s also hard to imagine Connor McDavid and the offense being blanked again with the weapons they have. So, give me the Oilers to win tonight with my NHL predictions straight up on the money line as the scales balance back and better overall play is rewarded!
