A pair of all-important Game 4s are underway today and tomorrow.

While things are staying tight between the teams in the series, I think the underdogs will now bounce back and take back home ice advantage for their respective clubs.

Rangers vs. Panthers Prediction: Tuesday, May 28th

This series on the surface is 2-1 in favor of the Rangers, and credit to them they have taken advantage of scoring opportunities, but they’ve won a pair of overtime games that could have gone either way. Now, they’ll face an uphill battle against one of the best home teams in the NHL in the Panthers.

These playoffs, the Panthers are 4-3 at home but the games lost were close ones, and they were unlucky by analytical terms. Even more recently, their Game 3 loss to the Rangers spit in the face of the hockey gods as they generated 3.81 goals expected compared to New York’s 1.69.

Much of that is on Sergei Bobrovsky in net, but the Panthers dominated the game on the stat sheet and if you keep doing that, you will be rewarded. I would also like to add that the Panthers had 86 shot attempts in Game 3; that happens again, and they win easily.

Expect a bounce back game from Bob in the net as well as he is 4th in goals saved above expected this postseason among goaltenders that have played at least 10 games. Give me Florida on the money line for my NHL best bets today, but also for them to end it in regulation this time around for much better odds.

Stars vs. Oilers Prediction: Wednesday. May 29th

Well, the Oilers have done it once again. They’ve put themselves in basically a must-win game for the 3rd straight series as they get ready for a home game in Game 4! I like the Oilers a lot and while I think winning the series may be more difficult than previously thought, I know they’ll come out guns blazing for this one.

One big determining factor for this game will be the goaltender for the Oilers as Stuart Skinner has not looked great since Game 1 – a change could be made for tomorrow’s matchup. I see Skinner and Calvin Pickard as the same kind of mediocre, but I do prefer Skinner in the big moment.

The Oilers also need to generate more special teams' chances as they’ve had just 4 powerplay chances over the last 2 games, and that’s where their bread is buttered. The loss in Game 3 was just their 3rd home loss of the playoffs though with it also being their first back-to-back game loss as well.

Connor McDavid and company are a hard team to beat in back-to-back home tilts plus the recommitment to defense and goaltending that I expect in Game 4. I’ll round out my NHL predictions with the Oilers knotting the series at 2-2 and sending the series back to Dallas for the 7-game series like I expected it to go to.
