NHL Best Bets for November 22
New Jersey Devils at Detroit Red Wings
What a fun matchup we have here from two of the leagues top scoring offenses in the Devils and Red Wings! These two teams rank 6th and 7th overall is average goals per game at 3.69 and 3.59 and those numbers may even increase tonight given how each team plays on the back end. The Devils have been one of the worst defensive teams this season after an impressive 2022 season but now they allow 3.81 goals per game the 4th most in the NHL and that has lead to the game total hitting the over in 13 of 16 games to this point. The Red Wings aren't far behind, reaching the over in 10 of 15 games this season and they will start Alex Lyon who allowed 3 goals in his first Detroit start. Let's not forget that Jack Hughes is back too so the offense will be humming once again for an over tonight.
Pick: Devils & Red Wings Over 6.5 Goals (-125 on Caesars)
Buffalo Sabres at Washington Capitals
In the words of Jesse Pinkman “they can't keep getting away with it!”. This is the overall sentiment around the Capitals this season as they aren't scoring goals but finding ways to win while defying analytics. We all know it can't go on forever though and I think the buck stops here tonight. The Caps score just 2.47 goals per game, the 2nd fewest goals in the game and they player slower than ever becoming basically the Islanders of past years just beating you with defense. Buffalo plays the opposite kind of game with the run and gun and quick young players. That spells trouble and the Sabres have held serve on the road this season at 4-4-1. Give me the plus money Sabres tonight to correct some stats against Washington and get that win.
Pick: Buffalo Sabres Money Line (+115 on PointsBet)
New York Rangers at Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins can be a scary team to bet against because you never know what team or goaltender will show up but with the Rangers coming to town and them just dominating teams its hard to not wager that way. The Rangers have been one of the very best teams this NHL season at 12-3-1 with a +15 goal differential that is the 2nd best mark in the eastern conference. They've done it through a defense that allows just 2.44 goals per game and a resurgence of their stars, Artemi Panarin especially. As for the Pens, you don't know if they'll show up night to night and the goaltending is even more inconsistent. It seems Tristan Jarry will start with his 2.59 GAA and that's a fine number but he's 6-7 on the record straight up this season. Let's take the Rangers on the road in Pittsburgh tonight to win it outright at a good Money Line value.
Pick: New York Rangers Money Line (-115 on BetMGM)
