Happy Tuesday to everyone out there in the sports betting space, I hope your Monday workday was a great one! Tuesday in the NHL is one of my favorite days of the week because they are almost always jam packed slates with tons of action to lay on the books. With that mentioned we do have 10 games tonight and some of them got me real pumped up to dive into and wager on. In today's article you will find a Money Line bet, team total bet and a game total bet and of course the Dog of the Day is back! If you like the rationale then tail the picks, if you don't feel free to fade as sometimes the best bets are the ones not taken!

NHL Best Bets for January 9th

Edmonton Oilers at Chicago Blackhawks

What good things can we say about the Blackhawks at this point in time? Connor Bedard is injured and the team has lost 7 of their last 10 games while being 2nd to league worst with a -57 goal differential. This is a bad team on huge levels right now so why not attack them with an Oilers team that continues to roll winning 7 straight games coming into tonight? Over the past month the Oilers have averaged 4.3 goals per game which is fantastic and the books took notice tonight as their team total is 4.5, the highest you'll ever seen that wager. They are trying to deter action on Edmonton but I don't see a reason to shy away as the Blackhawks are set to start Petr Mrazek and his 3.26 GAA and are completely outmatched. The Oilers score 5 goals tonight and we all go home happy!

Pick: Edmonton Oilers Team Total Over 4.5 Goals (-115 on BetMGM)

Seattle Kraken at Buffalo Sabres

Many sports hinge on momentum and hockey is no different, sometimes things are just easier and bounce your way and right now the Kraken are on a surge. After a putrid start to the season they are right back in the playoff hunt thanks to 10 straight games with a point and 6 straight wins! The key to this has been the defense as many games have been tightly contested one goal games but during the 10 game stretch the Kraken have allowed just 14 goals which is just unreal. Joey Daccord gets a lot of credit here with his 2.29 GAA and he is projected to start tonight opposite of Buffalo goalie Devon Levi who has been a mess. The Sabres help the odds being at home where they are 8-10 on the season straight up and that's great if you are betting the Kraken Money Line tonight like I am, as this one seems like a mismatch on the books tonight.

Pick: Seattle Kraken Money Line (-105 on HardRock)

Florida Panthers at St. Louis Blues

I have been waiting around most of this NHL season waiting for the Panthers to capture that top tier offense of last season but it really just doesn't seem like it will come back. It's not the end of the world for Florida, just surprising to me but none the less it has built up quite the trend in the game total markets. In 22 road games this season the Panthers have gone over the total in just 7 of them, this is mostly because the defense has been so damn good. Florida over the past month on the road is allowing just 2.4 goals per game and on the Blues side they are allowing 2.9 goals per game on home ice. The Blues are also 13 for 38 in hitting overs this season in case you were wondering so looks like an under bet today in this game with a total of 6.5 seeming a bit steep.

Pick: Panthers & Blues Under 6.5 Goals (-115 on Caesars)

DOG OF THE DAY

Tampa Bay Lightning Money Line vs Los Angeles Kings (+115 on DraftKings)
