NHL Best Bets for January 6th

Ottawa Senators at Edmonton Oilers

You know we must have a piece of potentially the most exciting game on the slate for this Saturday! The Oilers offense is officially back and that's backed by the stats of the last month as they've scored 4 goals per game on home ice over the past 30 days. This has helped boost a season long trend of Edmonton going over the game total at home, which has happened in 11 of 17 games. On the Ottawa side they are bleeding goals, allowing 4.2 per game over the last month and the offense is the only thing saving them on a nightly basis. The Senators have also gone over in 8 of 14 road games this season. With Anton Forsberg and Stuart Skinner expected to start in net tonight it's hard to see them making a difference so although the total is a hefty 7 goals tonight I am leaning over in this one.

Pick: Senators & Oilers Over 7 Goals (-110 on BetMGM)

New York Islanders at Vegas Golden Knights

Its been a tough stretch for the reigning Stanley Cup Champions lately as they've lost 7 of their last 10 games but now they're back on home ice and I love that for them. Vegas is an impressive 13-4-2 in the desert this season and are outscoring opponents 3.26 to 2.37 on average. Tonight they face an Islanders team that isn't as good as their place in the standings as they allow 3.28 goals per game on the road this season and 3.5 over the past 30 days. Normally I would say the New York goaltending could even the playing field but Ilya Sorokin has been a shadow of himself with a 3.1 GAA and 12-14 record straight up. I like the Golden Knights to get right tonight and the market is fair value on the Money Line so let's hit it.

Pick: Vegas Golden Knights Money Line (-140 on Caesars)

Buffalo Sabres at Pittsburgh Penguins

It took until the holiday season and a little after that but the Penguins are finally living up to their top tier analytical scores! They have now won 7 of the past 10 games and have scored 3 or more goals in 6 straight games. The offensive output is crucial for them too as the defense has carried the load allowing just 2.2 goals per game over the past month and if each trend continues the Penguins should roll over a Buffalo team that is 8-13 on the road this season and a-16 in goal differential. The Money Line is a bit too chalky though so let's just take the Pens to win in regulation on that 60 minute line.

Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins 60-Min Money Line (-125 on PointsBet)

DOG OF THE DAY

Vancouver Canucks Money Line vs New Jersey Devils (+105 on HardRock)
