Happy Super Bowl weekend to all you hockey fans out there that celebrate! For me its one of the best weekends of the year between the big game, the Waste Management Open in golf and of course a the big game party with all of the friends and family. Before we get there though there's a mega slate in the NHL tonight of 13 games and that means a bunch of ways to find some winners before we toss it all onto Super Bowl props. In today's article I have my eye on a Puck Line, a pair of game total and the Dog of the Day makes its return to lineup! If you like the rationale then tail the picks, if you don't feel free to fade as sometimes the best bets are the ones not taken!

NHL Best Bets for February 10th

Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins

Here we go again targeting the Capitals! They are far from the worst team in the NHL but when you're in a slump it can sure seem that way. They have now lost 6 straight games and have failed to cover the Puck Line in 5 of those games so they are a special kind of bad right now. Enter the Boston Bruins who are one of the league's best home teams this NHL season at 17-5-3 and have a goal differential of +46 overall. The Bruins have not just played well at home but they've been friendly to bettors too as they are 15 for 25 at home against the spread this season. The Bruins are also scoring 4.5 goals per game at home over the past month and are allowing just 2.5 goals per game. On the flip side the Caps defense is floundering hard giving up 4.2 goals per game during that same time period. The Money Line on the Bruins is too chalked up though this afternoon so you can find me laying some cash on the Puck Line for much more respectable odds.

Pick: Boston Bruins Puck Line -1.5 (-105 on BetMGM)

Edmonton Oilers at Los Angeles Kings

Last night the Oilers finally hit an over on the game total and it seems like the books are reacting to that but guess what, they were playing the Ducks who allow upwards of 4 goals per game! Tonight is a different story in my mind as the Kings can play actual defense and have done so most of the season. The Kings have allowed 2.9 goals over the past month at home and just 2.74 goals on the season. They have also gone under the total in 12 of 23 home games on the season but that's just one side of this bet. The Oilers defense has been amongst the league's best since the holidays as they've given up an impressive 1.7 goals per game over the past month and change and I don't see that changing against a Kings team that is struggling to score goals. The total can still be found at 6.5 goals too if you shop around although I am not opposed to the even 6 goals if that's what you end up with. Either way its a bet towards the under in this contest.

Pick: Oilers & Kings Under 6.5 Goals (-120 on FanDuel)

Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators

Is it just me or has it seemed like these two teams have already played like 5 times this season? I know that's not possible on the NHL schedule algorithm but just my honest read! This will be the 4th and final meeting of the season for these two teams and not shocking they went over in 2 of the previous games and the other just got hooked to the under but was close. I expect much of the same today as the Leafs offense is booming with 3.4 goals per game over the past month on the road and the Senators have no idea how to play defense, allowing 3.9 over the past 30 days at home. Luckily for Ottawa though is their offense is at least capable scoring 3.37 goals per game on home ice throughout this season. I see a shootout in the truest sense between these two teams and I honestly expected to see the number at 7 goals but hey I will take the 6.5 all day long and laugh my way to the bank, let's go over here folks.

Pick: Maple Leafs & Senators Over 6.5 Goals (-140 on Caesars)

Colorado Avalanche Money Line vs Florida Panthers (+120 on BetMGM)
