We had yesterday off with the short slate but what a night Tuesday was! Going 3-1 with a +250 underdog win was super exciting and a nice way to bounce back into things this week. No resting on the laurels today though as we have 13 games set to drop the puck in the NHL! Tonight I am continuing the “Dog of the Day” bonus pick to go the rest of the season, they will all be half unit plays on underdogs to take a shot on. Not every article will have a dog of the day but you will see it often enough. Otherwise we have 3 best bets for tonight's action to dive into! If you like the rationale then tail the picks, if you don't feel free to fade as sometimes the best bets are the ones not taken!

  • Season Record: 41-40-2
  • Bankroll: -0.53 units
  • Dog of the Day Record: 1-0 (+1.25 Units)

NHL Best Bets for December 7

New Jersey Devils at Seattle Kraken

The Devils had a tough stretch through the month of November but brighter days are here again as they head to Seattle to take on the Kraken! Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier are back anchoring the middle and the difference has been night and day with them back as the Devils have won 4 of the last 5 games and have scored 25 goals during that stretch. The goaltending continues to be shaky but if you score 5 goals a game you will win most of the contests you play. The Kraken on the other hand have struggled mightily through this whole season so far scoring just 2.65 goals per game (4th fewest in NHL) and having sub par goaltending. They haven't annouced yet who will start the game but it hardly matters especially with Philipp Grubauer and his 3.35 GAA. Devils on the Money Line tonight, lock it in.

Pick: New Jersey Devils Money Line (-140 on BetMGM)

Winnipeg Jets at Colorado Avalanche

It's by design of course for the Jets but they are one of the best defensive teams in hockey this season! They lack proper talent up front so they play close to the margins and win that way and to their credit it has been working as they have allowed just 2.6 goals against per game on the road, the 7th lowest average in the NHL. This has led to them going under the total in 14 of 24 games this season and with Connor Hellebuyck projected to start in net with his 2.49 GAA I see another under coming. The Avalanche offense will of course try to throw a wrench in the wager but their defense gives confidence too as they allow 2.55 goals per game at home, the 5th best mark in the league. If the total was lower I would stay away but at 6.5 goals its just too high and I see the goalies carrying the day.

Pick: Jets & Avalanche Under 6.5 Goals (-135 on Caesars)

Anaheim Ducks at Chicago Blackhawks

It's a matchup tonight between two young teams in a rebuilding phase of things but make no mistake the Ducks are far ahead in theirs! The Ducks have shown glimpses of the team they may become this season but its all come crashing down lately as they've lost 9 of their last 10 games. Lucky for them they get to play Chicago tonight who is just a bit more worse for wear right now and one that allows 3.4 goals per game on home ice. That's the key factor for tonight because the Ducks can score goals in good matchups and they also have a significant edge in goaltending with John Gibson who is 5-11-0 on the season but keeping his GAA under 2.81 which is tough work. The Ducks should be favored by more here too as opposed to a nearly even spread considering the Blackhawks barely have an NHL roster so give me the road team on the Money Line tonight.

Pick: Anaheim Ducks Money Line (-110 on BetMGM)

BONUS PICK & NHL DOG OF THE DAY

Ottawa Senators Money Line vs Toronto Maple Leafs (+120 on FanDuel)
