NHL Best Bets for December 29
Philadelphia Flyers at Seattle Kraken
I know we just backed the Kraken last night as the dog of the day but everyday is a new slate and new angles must be looked at! I like the Flyers in this spot tonight considering the run they've been on and their road dominance going 11-4-3 on the season. The Flyers also hold a significant advantage given their defensive play and allowing just 2.5 goals per game on the road this season, the 4th lowest average in the NHL. Combine that with the Kraken's lack of offense this season it could be a game where goals are at a premium and I love the Flyers in a game like that. This game should be closer to even money so the value on the Flyers is one to target tonight.
Pick: Philadelphia Flyers (+115 on BetMGM)
New York Rangers at Florida Panthers
Back again with some Panthers action as tonight they host the Rangers in a big time matchup! Of all the games on the slate this is the one to keep an eye on as it features two elite teams going head to head. The Panthers have a interesting trend this season to highlight and its been low scoring games at home as they allow 2.8 goals per game and have gone under in 8 of 15 games this season. Sergei Bobrovsky will start in net for the Panthers tonight and in his last two starts he has been awesome, stopping 50 of the last 54 shots. On the Rangers end they can score in bunches but over their last 5 road games they have only totaled 13 goals. I love the matchup for a under tonight and there are still books offering it at 6.5 goals, I am all about that wager.
Pick: Rangers & Panthers Under 6.5 Goals (-130 on HardRock)
Colorado Avalanche at St. Louis Blues
At this point I am taking the Blues on as my mortal enemy and they must be stopped! Their stats and analytics are so bad and they can't go on much longer winning big hockey games. Maybe that ends tonight against the Avalanche who are one of the very best in the Western Conference. The Blues are good at home at 11-5 this season but the Avalanche have a +20 goal differential on the season and have a roster just so much better. Expect Jordan Binnington to go for the Blues as well tonight with his record of 11-11 straight up and GAA north of 3 goals. This is a spot where he gets flustered and doesn't have good numbers against Colorado overall in his career. Give me the better team to win the hockey game, sound logic right?
Pick: Colorado Avalanche Money Line (-155 on PointsBet)
