Welcome to another edition of the Fantasy Hockey Injury Report. Every week, we will discuss some key injuries around the league and how they may affect your fantasy hockey team.  It’s never easy to deal with the injury bug, but it doesn’t have to be the demise of your fantasy hockey team. Let’s take a look at who’s dealing with what this week!

NHL Injury Report - Week 10

Carter Hart - Philadelphia Flyers - Concussion

Carter Hart hasn’t played since December 23rd but could be ready to return to the lineup as early as Thursday against Arizona. Hart is on IR dealing with a concussion, but he recently passed all his evaluations and should be ready to return. The team may want to give their star goalie a couple of extra days of rest to make sure he is truly 100%, but fantasy owners can go ahead and activate him before the team’s next game.

Tristan Jarry - Pittsburgh Penguins - Lower-body

Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry suffered a lower body in the first period against the Boston Bruins and was unable to finish the game. He exited after facing just eight shots on goal. You could see him struggling to move from side to side and to get up after making saves, but we don’t know how serious his injury is. The team has recalled Dustin Tokarski from the AHL, so the star netminder could miss at least one game.

Vladimir Tarasenko - St. Louis Blues - Hard

Russian winger Vladimir Tarasenko suffered a hand injury in Sunday’s game against Minnesota and will be reevaluated in four weeks. This is a huge blow for a St. Louis team trying to keep pace in the Western Conference. We know that he’s gone for four weeks, but the veteran could be out longer than that. It’s all going to depend on how his hand heals in the next month. Already without Torey Krug, this is a huge blow to the team and to fantasy owners.

Ryan O'Reilly - St. Louis Blues - Foot

Sticking with the Blues, they also announced that Ryan O’Reilly will be out for at least six weeks as he deals with a broken foot. He blocked a shot in the same game but was able to finish the contest. It was a rough half of the season for the seasoned veteran and there was speculation that St. Louis was hoping to move him before the deadline. This puts that plan in jeopardy unless he’s able to heal and play a few games before that. If you were holding onto O’Reilly waiting for a strong second half, you can go ahead and drop him.

Jonathan Marchessault - Vegas Golden Knights - Lower-body

Jonathan Marchessault has missed the last five games due to a lower-body injury and was recently placed on IR. The move was made to free up some cap space and allow the team to call up a player, but there is hope that the winger can return as early as Thursday. Already without Jack Eichel and Alex Pietrangelo, Vegas can’t afford to lose another regular for an extended period of time. Marchessault has put up some good numbers again this season, scoring 14 goals and adding 13 assists.
