Welcome to another edition of the Fantasy Hockey Injury Report. Every week, we will discuss some key injuries around the league and how they may affect your fantasy hockey team.  It’s never easy to deal with the injury bug, but it doesn’t have to be the demise of your fantasy hockey team. Let’s take a look at who’s dealing with what this week!

Trevor Zegras - Anaheim Ducks - Lower-body

Trevor Zegras suffered a lower-body injury Monday night against the Colorado Avalanche and was unable to finish the game. He played just over nine minutes before being forced to leave the game. We don’t know how serious the injury is, but he could be ready to return on Thursday when Anaheim faces off against Seattle. Monitor his situation as the week moves on.

Brad Marchand/Hampus Lindholm - Boston Bruins - Undisclosed

Both Hampus Lindholm and Brad Marchand did not suit up for the last game against the Carolina Hurricanes due to undisclosed injuries. The team did say that both players were dealing with “nagging injuries”, so maybe a game off will do them both some good. Patric Bergeron was also out of the lineup last game due to illness. All three should be able to return to the lineup this week.

Tage Thompson - Buffalo Sabres - Upper-body

Tage Thompson was unable to play Monday against Montreal and his status for the rest of the week is still up in the air. The Buffalo Sabres have an outside chance of still making the playoffs, so if Thompson is out for more than one game, that would basically end any chance they have at still making it. The issue seems to be with his right arm, but the team hasn’t confirmed that. Let’s hope that he can return to the lineup sooner rather than later.

Roman Josi - Nashville Predators - Upper-body **UPDATE**

Roman Josi has now missed six consecutive games due to an upper-body injury and there is still no timetable for his return. He hasn’t played in almost two weeks, so this doesn’t seem like an injury that should be classified as day-to-day. At this point, if he isn’t close to returning, the team may just elect to shut him down and allow him to start prepping for next season. That would be a huge blow for fantasy owners. Nashville has a date with the Penguins on Thursday, so we’ll see if the captain can make a return for that game. Matt Duchene also suffered an injury and his season looks to be over.

Jakub Chychrun - Ottawa Senators - Hamstring

If the Ottawa Senators are going to qualify for the playoffs, they are going to have to do it without Jakub Chychrun. The defenseman is expected to be out of the lineup for two-to-three weeks due to a hamstring injury. For fantasy hockey purposes, that’s the rest of the playoffs, so in redraft leagues, you can go ahead and drop him and look for a replacement on the waiver wire. It’s been a long year for Chychrun and this is not the way anyone wanted it to end.

Logan Thompson - Vegas Golden Knights - Lower-body

After missing over a month of action due to injury, Logan Thompson made his return to action against the Calgary Flames but was unable to finish the game. He left in the third period with just over six minutes to play. Reports have come out that Thompson is not expected to return to action this week, which is a huge blow for fantasy owners. At this point in the season, we can’t wait any longer for him to get healthy, so go ahead and drop him and look for goalies to streak throughout the week. Jonathan Quick could be an option if he’s still on the waiver wire.
