Welcome into NHL player prop central for the season on Underdog Fantasy! Player props are becoming one of the hottest growing things in hockey over the past few seasons and I have definitely taken notice as it adds yet another layer to a great game experience. Throughout this season you will find picks offered on the Underdog site that I find the most appealing as there are many to choose from so that's why I'm here to help you sift through the options.

For tonight's slate we have 5 games on tap around the NHL and plenty of options for player props! I have highlighted a pair that I will be following tonight that include two top tier players for the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers. We have very little new data to use but at least both of these players have strong track records from last season so let's lean on that and hit some props on Underdog tonight!

NHL Underdog Fantasy Top Picks October 16

William Nylander, Toronto Maple Leafs - HIGHER than 4.0 Shots On Goal

With all the attention on Auston Matthews and his back to back hat tricks to start the season its easy to forget about someone like William Nylander but don't he has been super productive already this season and was last season. In his last 30 games the Toronto winger has averaged 4.1 shots on goal and he has topped the total of 4 shots on goal in 5 of his last 10 games with 2 pushes. This season though he has gone higher than 4 shots in both games with 11 total through 2 games. The Blackhawks are opponent for Nylander tonight and they help his cause as they allow 341. shots on goal per game, which is the 3rd most in the NHL this season. No reason to think the Maple Leafs slow down so let's lay action on one of the most important pieces of the offense.

Chris Kreider, New York Rangers - HIGHER than 2.5 Shots On Goal

This is how you know I am unbiased when it comes to making money because as a hockey fan Chris Kreider is one of the most cringe players I have ever watched. That being said, and it needs to be said but anyways Kreider is productive for the Rangers and has scored many goals over the past few seasons for them and that is driven by his frequency of shooting the puck on net. Last season he averaged 2.9 shots on goal per game which may not seem like much but when his prop line is 2.5 that more than enough. This season he has 7 shots through 2 games and will be going against the Arizona Coyotes who allow 35.05 shots on goal per game, the 2nd most in the NHL right now. They also allow a bunch of penalties and shots attempts so let's ride with the Rangers and Kreider tonight to get us over the hump.
