Welcome into NHL player prop central for the season on Underdog Fantasy! Player props are becoming one of the hottest growing things in hockey over the past few seasons and I have definitely taken notice as it adds yet another layer to a great game experience. Throughout this season you will find picks offered on the Underdog site that I find the most appealing as there are many to choose from so that's why I'm here to help you sift through the options. Tonight is a smaller slate but there are still plenty of ways to go to open this NHL season including some picks on the Blackhawks rookie prodigy and a dependable veteran for the Lightning. Make sure to check back all season long for more NHL Underdog Picks!

NHL Underdog Fantasy Top Picks October 10

Connor Bedard, Chicago Blackhawks - HIGHER than 6.95 Fantasy Points

If you follow the NHL closely or casually you have heard the name Connor Bedard at this point and for good reason as he is hockey's next golden son! He is playing on a team that won't be all that good but luckily that doesn't affect props normally and with his line mates of Taylor Hall and Ryan Donato I think he will be just fine. His options on Underdog tonight are all very fair numbers but I am having trouble picking a goal or an assist for him tonight so I have opted to take all into consideration with betting on his fantasy points. In the Underdog setup you get 6 points for a goal, 4 for an assist and 1 for a shot on goal and I think he tallies at least a point and he should put a handful of shots on net tonight as well. There is no real data to back up Bedard but I can tell you the Pittsburgh Penguins defense was poor last season and while they added Erik Karlsson to the blue line that doesn't really help on the back end very much. Let's root for the next king of hockey to get started right away in his career, why the hell not?

Brayden Point, Tampa Bay Lightning - HIGHER than 3.5 Shots on Goal

Am I low on the Lightning heading into this season, yes I am as they seem stale overall but that doesn't mean there won't be top tier production from the likes of Brayden Points and Nikita Kucherov! Speaking on the former there in Point he is the center for the top line of two great players and he himself has become more of a scorer over the past couple seasons with 51 goals last season, a career high mark. This was powered by his 235 shots on goal over 82 games which was also a career best last season and that averages out to nearly 3 shots on goal per game. That was last season though and this year the Lightning aren't as deep and I can see this top line playing more and more as the dependence on them will grow due to lack of depth behind them. There is also the fact that the Predators, the opponent tonight allowed 33.27 shots per game last season and that was one of the highest in the NHL. Give me Point to be on point tonight (sorry) and go higher than 3.5 shots on goal.
