Welcome into NHL player projections central for the season on Underdog Fantasy! Player props and projections are becoming one of the hottest growing things in hockey over the past few seasons and I have definitely taken notice as it adds yet another layer to a great game experience. Throughout this season you will find picks offered on the Underdog site that I find the most appealing as there are many to choose from so that's why I'm here to help you sift through the options.

For today's slate, we have 9 games on tap around the NHL and plenty of options for player props! I have highlighted 3 plays that I will be following tonight that includes 3 players around the league for the Dallas Stars, Arizona Coyotes and Toronto Maple Leafs! Good luck to everyone on the plays tonight, let's win some cheddar!

NHL Underdog Fantasy Top Picks December 29

Matias Maccelli - HIGHER than 2.0 Shots on Goal

The Coyotes forwards have been having themselves a season when it comes to shots on goal production and tonight's game is another great matchup. The Ducks are allowing over 34 shots per game at home this season and Maccelli has a line of an even 2 shots tonight. He has topped this number in 9 of the last 10 games while averaging 2.9 shots per game.

Jason Robertson, Dallas Stars - HIGHER than 4.0 Shots on Goal

While we haven't seen the numbers of last year from Robertson we know that he loves playing the Chicago Blackhawks. In his young career Robertson has averaged 4.6 shots per game against Chicago and will get them tonight allowing 33.5 shots per game over the last month on the road. Robertson has also topped this number of 3.5 shots in 4 of the last 5 games heading into tonight, I bet he goes higher again!

John Tavares - HIGHER than 3.5 Shots on Goal

Anybody against the Columbus Blue Jackets looks good in the prop market and Tavares is no exception. The Blue Jackets allow 33.81 shots on goal this season, the 4th most in NHL and Tavares is riding hot going higher than 3.5 shots in 13 of his last 15 games for a hit rate of 87%! Seems like a slam dunk play to me tonight.
