After missing Week 6 due to an injury, Darnell Mooney returned to his usual full-time role and played 83% of snaps. Mooney ended up with 3 receptions for 68 yards on 5 targets and has been the #2 option in the Falcons passing offense on the weeks that he’s healthy. Mooney is once again questionable in Week 8 with a hamstring injury but is practicing in a limited capacity to start the week. If healthy, Mooney will be just inside my top 40 WRs with a plus matchup against Miami.

I had hopes that Rashod Bateman might take the next step for fantasy managers after getting a contract extension in the offseason, but Bateman is coming out of the Ravens Week 7 bye 4th in target share with only 11 receptions on the season. Bateman was already someone to avoid whenever Lamar Jackson was healthy, so that should definitely be the case while Jackson’s health remains in question.

Hopes were high for a Keon Coleman year two breakout after his huge Week 1 performance where he put up 8 receptions for 112 yards on 11 targets, but since then Coleman has yet to crack 50 receiving yards in a single game. Coleman still has a slight lead with a 18.9% target share on the season but hasn’t shown anything since the start of the season for us to be able to trust him as a reliable fantasy option. I’ve got Coleman just inside my top 40 WRs for Week 8, but the Panthers secondary will present a respectable challenge.

Panthers rookie WR Tetairoa McMillan had a somewhat expected down game last week against the Jets where he saw a good amount of Sauce Gardner and ended up finishing with 3 receptions for 33 yards on 5 targets. McMillan has been the clear top target with Bryce Young as the starter, but we’ll have to see if that remains the case with Andy Dalton likely to start this week while Young deals with an ankle injury. Despite the QB change, I’ve got McMillan as a borderline top 15 WR for Week 8.

DJ Moore finished the Bears Week 7 matchup against the Saints with 3 receptions for 43 yards on 5 targets. Moore finished 2nd among Bears pass catchers in targets but has failed to eclipse 50 receiving yards in a game since Week 1 and only has 1 TD on the season. If nothing else, DJ Moore has at least been consistent with 5 targets in all but one game although he hasn’t done much with them. Due to these consistent targets, I’ve still got Moore as a top 30 WR for Week 8.

I think it’s safe to say Joe Flacco understands getting the ball to Ja'Marr Chase is a good idea considering Chase has seen an insane 35 targets over the last 2 weeks after he finished the Bengals Week 7 matchup with 16 receptions for 161 yards and a TD on 23 targets. Chase just continues to show why he’s a must start regardless of who is at QB.

I usually try to keep it simple whenever we’re talking about studs that you should be starting no matter what. This is the opposite. I’m going to keep it simple because you shouldn’t be starting any Browns WRs – including Isaiah Bond, especially whenever they’re matched up against a CB as talented as Christian Gonzalez. I’ve got Bond outside of my top 50 WRs for Week 8.

George Pickens still had a productive day in Week 7 against Washington despite teammate CeeDee Lamb returning from injury, finishing with 4 receptions for 82 yards on 6 targets. IT was the first time since Week 1 that Pickens didn’t score a touchdown, but some regression was due in that area given how hot he had run over the previous 5 games. Pickens has a tough test this week against the Denver secondary, but I still have him just inside my top 24 WRs for Week 8.

Courtland Sutton had yet another productive game in Week 7, finishing with 6 receptions for 87 yards on 10 targets. Nico Collins left the Texans Week 7 matchup with a concussion after playing about 50% of snaps and his status is now in doubt for Week 8. This could give rookie Jayden Higgins some additional opportunities but fantasy managers should just be stashing him, not starting him, until we see more. Higgins finished with 0 receptions on 3 targets after playing 63% of snaps in Week 7.

Alec Pierce saw a surprising uptick in usage in Week 7, seeing 10 targets for the first time in his career. Pierce finished with 5 receptions for 98 yards, and that amount of target volume combined with Pierce’s big play ability could be exciting for fantasy if it was dependable. This is a tricky week to take a flyer on Pierce, because the Titans secondary are a great matchup but the Colts are also unlikely to need to throw the ball much to win this game. I’ve got Pierce just inside my top 40 WRs as a WR3 option for Week 8.

The Chiefs are passing the ball at a very high rate this season, so Worthy can still be productive for fantasy without being the #1 option, it’ll just be more difficult to predict when those games will be. Vibes couldn’t be much worse in Miami right now, with QB Tua Tagovailoa most recently being quoted saying that one of the reasons for Jaylen Waddle’s lack of targets in Week 7 was due to Tua “not being the tallest guy back there” and not wanting to throw it blindly. Waddle finished with 1 reception for 15 yards on 4 targets, all of which were season lows. This was a disappointing showing against a Browns secondary that had been very beatable up to that point in the season. Things aren’t going to get any easier for Waddle and the Dolphins offense against a tough Falcons defense this week. I’ve still got Waddle just inside my top 20 WRs for Week 8, but admittedly, I don’t feel great about it.

Kayshon Boutte finished Week 7 with 2 receptions for 55 yards and a TD on 2 targets. It would have been nice to see Boutte with a higher target volume, but being a deep threat for one of the best deep ball passers in the NFL also has its value. Boutte should be considered a boom or bust flex option for Week 8 in a plus matchup against Cleveland.

Week 7 was a strange outing for the Steelers passing game. DK Metcalf still led the way for the Steelers WR room, finishing with 3 receptions for 50 yards on 5 targets. Elic Ayomanor was tied for the team-lead with 5 targets that he converted into only 2 receptions for 29 yards. Ayomanor has not had over 30 receiving yards in a game since Week 4 and is tough to rely on with how underwhelming the Titans passing offense has been this season. There are not many matchups that will be better than the one Ayomanor has this week, so hopefully he can deliver for the teams that might need him with the number of players that are injured and teams that are on bye. Terry McLaurin is expected to be active this week for the first since he was injured in Week 3. While it’s great to see his health trending in the right direction, I wouldn’t recommend starting McLaurin in his first game back. There’s the potential for his snaps to be limited while coming back from an injury, the matchup against Kansas City is one of the toughest in the NFL, and it’ll be backup QB Marcus Mariota getting the start with Jayden Daniels also dealing with an injury. McLaurin will likely be outside of my top 40 WRs if he’s active this weekend.

Jaylin Lane ended up leading the Commanders with 3 receptions for 60 yards on 6 targets in Week 7. Lane took advantage of Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel’s absence, but with both WRs expected to play in Week 8, Lane is back to someone that you should avoid in all formats especially with such a tough matchup this week.

Bills slot WR Khalil Shakir is coming out of the teams Week 7 bye 2nd among pass catchers with a 17.8% target share, but Josh Allen has been spreading the ball around in Josh Allen fashion, as there’s nobody on the team with a target share over 19%. Shakir has offered a decent floor this season with 4+ targets in all but one game, but not much of a ceiling due to the fact he has yet to eclipse 70 receiving yards in a game. I’ve got Shakir just inside my top 30 WRs due to all of the bye weeks.

Troy Franklin finished tied for the team lead with 10 targets in Week 7 but was only able to finish with 3 receptions for 19 yards. He saved his day with his 2nd receiving touchdown of the season and has now had 5+ targets in 5 out of 7 games to start the season. The two weeks Franklin has caught a touchdown are the only two weeks you could have felt good about starting him, but Franklin is in a great spot this week against the Dallas Cowboys secondary. I’ve got Franklin just inside my top 35 WRs for Week 8.

Matthew Golden had the best game of his young career coming out of the Packers Week 5 bye but wasn’t able to continue that trajectory last week after finishing 3rd among Packers pass catchers in targets bringing in 4 receptions for 37 yards. Golden does appear to be a top 3 option in this passing offense at worst, with room still to grow during his rookie season. Golden has a great matchup this week and is just inside my top 30 WRs for Week 8.

Josh Downs ended up missing Week 7 with a concussion but has been a limited participant in practice to start this week and is expected to play assuming he clears concussion protocol. Downs has been operating as the 3rd option in the Colts passing offense for most of this season but had 7+ targets in back-to-back weeks before last week’s injury. In a week where Downs has a great matchup, and there are so many WRs either injured or on bye, I’ve got Downs as a top 40 WR for Week 8.

Rashee Rice wasted no time getting involved in the Chiefs offense in his season debut after serving a six-game suspension to start the season, finishing with 7 receptions for 42 yards and 2 TDs on 10 targets. Rice led the team in targets despite playing only 41% of snaps and should continue to be the #1 option in this Chiefs passing offense moving forward. Rice should be a must start on a weekly basis and is a top 5 WR for this week in a great matchup.

There were plenty of targets to go around for the Chargers pass catchers in Week 7 when QB Justin Herbert threw the ball 55 times, but Ladd McConkey led the way with 15 targets that he turned into 9 receptions for 67 yards. McConkey has now had 7+ targets in 4 out of the last 5 games. Minnesota’s secondary had looked like a difficult challenge at times this season but had a rough day last week against the Eagles. We’ll see if those trends continue this week, but I’ve got Ladd as a top 15 WR for Week 8.

Chris Olave was already having a solid season but had arguably his best game yet last week where he finished with 5 receptions for 98 yards and 2 TDs on 7 targets. Olave has now had 98 receiving yards in back-to-back games and continues to be the clear top option in this passing offense with a 28.5% target share. Olave continues to be a must start WR and is inside my top 10 for Week 8.

Wan’Dale Robinson continues to be very involved in his role as the #1 option with Malik Nabers missing the season due to an injury. Robinson finished Week 7 with a season high 12 targets that resulted in 6 receptions for 95 yards. Robinson was able to put a solid day together despite the tough matchup against the Broncos, and he has another difficult matchup ahead of him this week against Eagles CB Cooper DeJean. Robinson is still a starting option for me despite the matchup, as he’s just inside my top 30 WRs for Week 8.

The rollercoaster season for DeVonta Smith continued in Week 7 against a Vikings defense that looked like a tough matchup heading into the game, but Smith finished with 9 receptions for 183 yards and a TD on 11 targets. Smith has now finished as a top 15 WR on three separate occasions but has also finished outside the top 50 WRs three different times as well. Smith has a plus matchup he could exploit this week against the New York Giants if the target volume continues. I’ve got Smith as a top 15 WR for Week 8.

Deebo Samuel ended up missing Week 7 with a heel injury, but it’s expected to only be a one game absence with Deebo set to return in Week 8. It’s a difficult spot to be in against the Kansas City Chiefs defense, and even more difficult without your starting QB. Deebo will likely be just outside of my top 40 WRs for Week 8 if he’s active.
