And just like that, it's time to jump into our NFL DFS Week 4 picks. We like to turn the page pretty quickly because, again, another week's worth of games in the books means we have even more match-up data to dissect and things are really starting to take shape. We're out here identifying which defenses to target against for our passing (Dallas) and which teams we should void using running backs against (Cleveland). Be sure to fire up all the content we supply you with here on Fantasy Alarm and that, in turn, will make tools such as our Weekly Rankings and DFS projections more useful in your research.

For those who do want to discuss what happened last week, I think it's all pretty simple. We thought it was going to be a pretty chalky week and, for the most part, we were right. Targeting guys like Jordan Mason and Kenneth Walker proved to work very well in our cash game play. Targeting high-end players like Bijan Robinson and Ja'Marr Chase did not. If you rolled with an all-chalk lineup, things probably didn't work out for you, but if you managed to sprinkle in some of the other favorites we recommended – Jonathan Taylor, Garrett Wilson, Ricky Pearsall and Jake Ferguson, you probably enjoyed a solid day.

One quick thing to address, as a number of people sent me screenshots of losing lineups with a big, fat zero in them from CeeDee Lamb. While the injury was definitely a bummer, he is not the reason your cash lineups failed. In my cash games on DraftKings, he was 50-percent owned. On FanDuel, ownership was up at like 80-percent. When ownership is that high, the performance is almost irrelevant. If he pops, then great – you and the rest of the field get a high score. But when he doesn't, at that type of ownership, it doesn't matter. Your cash lineups failed because of other players you jammed in there. Not because Lamb got hurt. In GPP tournaments, it's a different story, but as I told you in the DFS Playbook and the Example Lineups, I was fading Lamb in tournaments and pivoting to George Pickens.

I know I said we're turning the page quickly, but before hopping into our NFL DFS Week 4 picks, I always like to post the optimal lineups from the previous week's DFS Playbook. It's good to see our hits, but it also helps us understand where we fell short and how best to adjust our lineup construction. Contest selection is also a big thing but we'll save that lecture for another time.

Here are the top lineups we could have built just off the DFS Playbook and Dart Board:

Again, just trying to show you what could have been. Yes, some of my Example Lineups may have steered you in a different direction, but that's why you build your own and always use the examples as a sounding board. No one says you should be using them in your contests.

Now let's get to our NFL DFS Week 4 picks for the Watch List.
