And just like that we’re onto our NFL Week 2 DFS picks, right? The first week of the NFL season is officially in the books and regardless of whether you cashed or not, we need to start our Week 2 research with fresh eyes and not walk into this week with too many preconceived notions. Ja”Marr Chase and Nico Collins are not going to be miserable failures every week. We aren’t labeling Jahmyr Gibbs a bust. Daniel Jones isn’t going to be your weekly savior at the quarterback position. Just like Ted Lasso says, “Be a goldfish.”

That’s not to say we don’t analyze what we saw in Week 1. We just don’t overreact. The same goes for DFS. Of the example lineups I posted here on the site, the DraftKings Cash Lineups both hit. The FanDuel ones did not. And neither site’s GPP lineups finished in the money in the bigger contests like the Milly Maker or the Sunday Million. Do I change my whole process for Week 2? No. We continue with our match-up analysis but now add in certain things we witnessed in the first week like usage, snap counts and target shares. Not everything will translate from week to week, but overall, everything gets more refined until we are cashing much more regularly.

I say this because I believe in full transparency, something other places do not. They will brag about their hits, but they won’t share their losses with you. That’s not how I work. You will know every single one of my hits and misses. Just like my betting, I play everything I post on this site and everything I say on the radio and livestreams. Will I post all of my lineups? No. But you won’t see me post a winning lineup with players I told you to avoid or that I don’t believe in, so understand that. I did not make any money playing DFS last week. I had cash lineups that helped cover my losses, but there we no big money finishes and I never play more than I can afford to lose. Bottom line -- you’re not going to cash every week – no one does. But by the end of the season, we’ll all be in the black…or green, I should say.

What were the optimal lineups built off just the DFS Playbook and Dart Board? I'm glad you asked.

DraftKings Week 1 Optimal Lineup:

FanDuel Optimal Lineup:

Again, this is just here to show you what could have been. The Playbook is done to narrow the player pool for you and then, from there, you can use our variety of DFS tools including the Lineup Generator to help you create lineups from these plays. The DK optimal would have had you in 223rd place, good for $500 in the Milly Maker. The FanDuel optimal was less exciting as it would have won you $30 in the No Sweat Sunday Million, so a 5x return on your $5 investment.

Now let’s all be goldfish and move onto NFL Week 2 DFS picks.

NFL DFS Week 2 Watch List & Top Picks

To start the NFL DFS Week 2 Watch List, please allow me to welcome all of the new members of the Fantasy Alarm #FAmily. There are a lot of you and we thank you for joining. Now it's up to us to help you cash consistently on your NFL DFS action and we are psyched to make that happen. Since you are new to the Watch List, allow me to share some thoughts really quick:

“If you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for a lifetime.”

We take this adage to heart when it comes to playing NFL DFS. The Fantasy Alarm Playbook isn’t just about handing you a list of players and a lineup to use each week. It is designed to help you learn to be a better DFS player. It’s about teaching you the process used in selecting which players to scout and, eventually, which ones to use.

Therefore, we will begin each week with the Weekly NFL DFS Watch List which is designed to keep tabs on marquee names, chalk plays and, of course, the weekly bargains who may not see the same coverage and exposure. This piece will be continuously updated throughout the week, based on the most recent news and injuries, which means you may see a name or two removed as we get closer to Sunday kick-off. You may also see a few late-week additions who pique our interest for some reason too, and by the end of the week, this Watch List will eventually become your Playbook. Again, it’s about teaching you the process.

And which players am I watching for our NFL Week 2 DFS picks? Let’s get to it!
