Best NFL Survivor Pool Strategy & Picks For Week 12: Baltimore Ravens Begin Playoff Push With Home Game Against the Jets
So, you’re still looking for the best survivor pool strategy, huh? That’s great news because it means you’re still alive!! Not an easy feat as we enter NFL Week 12. Last week wasn’t too bad for most. There were certainly some scares, but in the end, the favorites who were taken in NFL survivor pools came out on top. But now it’s time to look forward. Your options are rapidly deteriorating and it’s going to get tougher and tougher to take down the big prize. Doesn’t mean we can’t do it, so let’s get to the top NFL Week 12 survivor picks. We’ve got work to do.
Remember, the best survivor pool strategy isn’t simply about picking the biggest favorite each week; it’s about understanding matchups, managing risk, and planning several weeks ahead. Sometimes, though, the football gods have a different plan. You can do all the right things, make the best picks and still find yourself on the losing side of things, like what we’ve witnessed several times this season already. We’ll try and help you avoid that as best we can. Those who are still in it are ready to scratch and claw their way to the final weeks, so identifying the best survivor pool strategy can be the key to outlasting the competition and claiming the prize. In this week’s article we'll take you through our process to help you make the most sensible picks to advance to next week and beyond.

Best NFL Survivor Pool Strategy for 2025 NFL Week 12
Remember, when it comes to lining up our top NFL Week 12 survivor picks, our mindset hasn’t changed regarding the best survivor pool strategy. It still revolves around the "chalky" plays, if they are still available to you. We’re always looking ahead, but right now, we’re still looking at the reliable favorites with the biggest spreads and hopefully, not overexposed in most pools. We prefer to have a home team and, in a lot of cases, avoid divisional matchups and short weeks. Last week, we made an exception with the New England Patriots as a 13-point home favorite on Thursday night against the New York Jets. If you watched the game and took the Pats, that first drive probably scared the crap out of you, but in the end, we cam out on top.
Here in NFL Week 12, the premium examples are the Baltimore Ravens who are a 13.5-point home-favorite over the Jets, the Detroit Lions who are a 10.5-point home-favorite over the New York Giants and the Seattle Seahawks who are on the road against the Tennessee Titans bit are a 13.5-point favorite in that game. If you have any of the three available, our friends over at Pool Genius say yes, but they do add in some intriguing options for those who have already used up some of the top teams.

Dominate Your Survivor Pool with Pool Genius
Back in Week 3, you got a great introduction to Pool Genius and everything they have to offer. It doesn’t matter that it’s Week 12 – there is still an opportunity for you to join and still take advantage of everything they have to offer. If this is your first time hearing about them, please allow me to show you the way, because they have some exciting tools to help you make the right picks. What happens is, you load in all the information about your pool – how many total participants, cost per entry, specific rules to your pool regarding things like repeat picks or buybacks and since we are already here in Week 12, who you’ve taken so far. From there, they analyze all the data and make suggestions as to who to take, so it is a VERY personalized service.
To continue guiding you, I am using all the tools Pool Genius has to offer and making one of my picks based solely off their data and recommendations. The pick I had been tracking in this article series had Arizona in Week 5, so I am shifting gears. I had a few other picks in other pools and have one left in my biggest pool, so I am still using the tools here, but instead of trying to track another pick, I will simply discuss the top few recommended picks overall and from there, you can determine who you want to take each week.
The top Pool Genius recommendations are as follows:
- Baltimore Ravens (vs New York Jets, 30% popularity)
- Detroit Lions (vs New York Giants, 12% popularity)
- Seattle Seahawks (at Tennessee Titans, 25% popularity)
- New England Patriots (at Cincinnati Bengals, 3% popularity)
According to Pool Genius the Ravens are expected to be the most popular pick this week and as a 13.5-point home favorite with a -1100 money line, it’s pretty understandable. Full disclosure, this is the pick I am making in my pool this week. No sense in screwing around. Yes, they have a 1.3 Future Value, but I don’t have any of the other recommended top picks available to me. The game that ranks second-highest in popularity is Seattle, a 13.5-point favorite over the Titans. Pool Genius lists them as their third-favorite this week behind Detroit, but the team that ranks third in popularity this week, the San Francisco 49ers are a touchdown favorite at home on Monday Night Football. I was tempted, but I’m also eyeballing the Niners Week 15 match-up where they are likely to be a home favorite against the Titans
Now before I get to my favorite picks to use, I do want to remind you that Pool Genius is a paid service, but for the Fantasy Alarm #Family, they have some discounts available to you. The data and service they provide has been fantastic thus far and I feel confident using their suggestions.Â
Now let’s get to my three favorite options for NFL Week 12:
Â
NFL Survivor Pool Picks for Week 12
New York Jets vs. Baltimore Ravens: Pick Baltimore Ravens
Our friends over at Pool Genius list this one as their favorite this week, and I’m following suit. You have a -1100 money line with an 88-percent win probability and there is zero margin for error. Lamar Jackson and the team know they have to, pretty much, run the table if they want to make the playoffs and I’ll simply bank on the better team in a more favorable situation.
The Jets gave me a one-series-scare last week as it looked like they were clicking and finally figured out the RPO work, but after four-straight three-and-outs, my nerves were assuaged. This week, they’re putting Tyrod Taylor under center which, to me, means they’re waving the white flag nice and early.
New York Giants vs. Detroit Lions: Pick Detroit Lions
Pool Genius lists this game as their second-favorite on the slate, and again, I have no reason to disagree. Even if Jaxson Dart returns, the Lions have a formidable enough defense to handle anything that comes their way. This pick only has a 12-percent popularity score because most of us have already used the Lions. If you haven’t and the Ravens aren’t available, this is the way.
The Giants are not only a double-digit underdog, but Detroit also has an 84-percent win probability. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery will help control the pace and flow of the game and Jared Goff will take it from there. Should be an easy pick to make if you have them available.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Tennessee Titans: Pick Seattle Seahawks
It’s a road game which isn’t ideal, but as a 13.5-point favorite with a -950 money line and an 87-prcent win probability, it seems safe enough. I prefer them over the 49ers because of that Week 15 matchup for San Francisco. Yes, you have to make it to Week 15 first, but the Seahawks just seem like the better option to me. The folks at Pool Genius have this game listed as their third favorite, so you can feel pretty confident. Their offense is about to get a big boost on the ground with Mike Macdonald finally saying Kenneth Walker will get more work and their defense is going to have a field day with Cam Ward and his weapons.
These are the picks in my order of preference this week. Best of luck to you all in your survivor pool contests.Â
