Steelers vs. Patriots Predictions for NFL Week 3, Sunday 9/21
Although the two aforementioned QBs won’t be on the field, we will still have one of the old guard under center this Sunday. That’s thanks to 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers joining the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, who is 18 years older than the QB opposite him - Drake Maye.
The UNC product helped lead the Patriots to a shootout win on the road over the struggling Miami Dolphins, which came while the Steelers were busy losing at home to the Seattle Seahawks.
It’s clear that these teams are no longer predicated on defense, and in Pittsburgh, their back end is banged up, with Joey Porter and DeShon Elliott having missed time. Not only is that good news for Drake Maye, but on top of that, the Steelers have allowed the fifth-most rushing yards per game through the first two weeks.
There have been several Steelers vs. Patriots picks we’ve considered, and we’ll touch on some suggestions while breaking down our best bet.Â

Â
Steelers vs. Patriots Best Bet: New England Team Total Over 20.5 Points (-122 at FanDuel)
First up, let’s knock out the suggestion that may seem like the craziest one. We expect Drake Maye to throw a pick this Sunday, especially if those two aforementioned DBs are able to return for Pittsburgh.
Maye had a stretch at the end of last season, throwing a pick in seven straight games, nine in total. The Steelers also picked off Sam Darnold last week (Aaron Rodgers also threw an interception to hit our plus-money best bet), but we won’t go with Maye strictly due to the injury concerns in the Pittsburgh secondary.
What we do love is a big game from Rhamondre Stevenson. We’ve already noted the Steelers' terrible run defense thus far, and we recently learned that TreVeyon Henderson is likely to start losing snaps due to poor pass protection.
Unfortunately, oddsmakers also monitor these reports, so we don’t see the value we expected for his rush attempts line. You could consider him to be an anytime TD scorer, but with just three carries inside the red zone through two weeks, we don’t absolutely love that either.
All that being said, we’ll just revert to a team approach with New England scoring at least 21 points. Thus far, Pittsburgh has allowed 31 and 32 points to the Jets and Seahawks, two teams not expected to be offensive juggernauts. Therefore, the best bet from our Steelers vs. Patriots predictions is New England's team total over 20.5 points (-122 at FanDuel).
