NFL Week 3 Picks Against The Spread: Indianapolis Colts -3.5 (-115 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

How could I POSSIBLY pick against the red-hot Indianapolis Colts? Not only have the Colts covered the Spread in 4 of their last 5 matchups against AFC South opponents, but they are also off to a 2-0 start, where they have not needed to punt the ball A SINGLE TIME. They are making NFL history, yet people are still sleeping on them.

Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans have shown some promising play under rookie quarterback Cam Ward, but have not been able to keep a game within less than eight points. As of right now, I think the Titans and Colts are at different points in their team building. I like the Titans' defense on paper, but they are going against a team that has put up 29 or more points in their two outings thus far. The stars are aligning for Indianapolis, and I am gladly picking them again to win by a touchdown or more.

 

 

 

NFL Week 3 Picks Against The Spread: Las Vegas Raiders +3.5 (-110 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

I won't lie. The Jayden Daniels injury scares me. It scares me a lot. On one hand, I think Marcus Mariota is reliable enough to make this a close game, but not enough to make the Commanders the favorites here. On the other hand, if Jayden Daniels can play, he will likely be limited as a scambler, which is one of his many superpowers that help deconstruct a defense. In that case, I would understand the Commanders being the favorites, but I still might lean toward the Raiders. The Raiders' defense has been playing incredibly tough under Pete Carroll, so give them any advantage, and I think they will be able to run with it. The Commanders' defense showed some clear holes, with Tucker Kraft leading the Packers to a 27-point showing. Believe it or not, the Raiders have a pretty talented young tight end as well (who should be healthy) that can gash this defense the exact same way.

I know Geno Smith is coming off one of his worst starts since he “didn't write back,” but I expect him to bounce back, especially if he can get Jackson Powers-Johnson back healthy on the offensive line. I like the Raiders to at the very least keep this a three-point game, but I could seriously see them winning it outright.
