NFL Week 14 Picks Straight Up & Odds For All 14 Games

With Week 14 here, we have some great matchups on paper, and with the final week of byes, we are left with a 14-game slate. In the following section, you will find my predictions, with the teams I anticipate coming away with a victory highlighted in bold. Odds are courtesy of BetMGM:

NFL Week 14 Picks Straight Up: Houston Texans ML (+160 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

Don't look now, but what was once a disappointing Texans team to start the season is now one of the hottest teams entering the month of December. Now winners of four straight games, with their only loss in November coming at the hands of the second-seeded Denver Broncos by a field goal, the Texans now have statement wins against the Buffalo Bills, where their defense made easy work of reigning MVP quarterback Josh Allen while Davis Mills was starting on the other side, and against the Colts, where C.J. Stroud reminded the NFL that he and his Texans team are legit.

Now, they take on the Kansas City Chiefs, whom I picked against last week against the Dallas Cowboys. While I do believe they can win any given Sunday with their coaching staff and Patrick Mahomes leading the way, they don't seem to be as big a threat as they used to be. Now outside of the playoff picture, they have an uphill battle, and I think they will have their hands full, especially against an elite Texans defense.

Against the Bills and a very slippery Josh Allen, the Texans were able to bring him down eight times. In years past, I think the Chiefs would be able to gameplan against this with Mahomes working the quick game, much like the Colts tried to do in their losing effort, but that has not been the case this year. Mahomes has been big play hunting this year, far more with limited success. He seemingly wants to make the most of his speedy outside targets, Xavier Worthy, Marquise Brown, and Tyquan Thornton, but his deep ball has not been the most accurate this season. Add this to the fact that the Chiefs' offensive line is very banged up coming into this game, and I think the Texans' front will feast.

I've talked about the Texans' offensive line in the past, not being my favorite unit, but they have put together some decent performances from a serviceable group, so I think they should be able to keep Stroud up long enough to work with an emerging group of young weapons. I like the Texans to stay hot with yet another statement victory.

NFL Week 14 Picks Straight Up: Philadelphia Eagles ML (-154 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

The last time we saw the Philadelphia Eagles play football, they were being manhandled at the hands of the Chicago Bears. The drama has continued to pour out, as seemingly every playmaker on offense is unhappy, and even the offensive coordinator is having his house get egged. Even with their offensive struggles, they are still favored in this game and for good reason.

The Chargers' offense is not the same without a healthy offensive line. On top of being down their two stud tackles for the season, Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater, they have had additional injuries pop up throughout the season. They were able to put together a solid line last week to keep Herbert upright for the most part, but that was against a bottom-ranked Raiders defensive front featuring Maxx Crosby and not much else, and Herbert still left the game injured.

On top of Herbert's injury, we still do not know what to make of the running back room. Will Omarion Hampton be back for this game? He still has not been activated off of IR at the time of this article being written. Will Kimani Videl be able to dominate the line of scrimmage as the Bears' backs did? Unlikely, since he does not have an elite offensive line blocking for him, and Ben Johnson scheming up almost 100 yards before contact.

As for the Eagles, it feels like every time one of their players makes headlines based on what they say online or to the media, they go off the following week. With Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and even offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo's names all clogging Twitter feeds, I expect this offense to have a bounce-back game and come away with a victory against a banged-up Chargers squad.
