These are the matchups we dream about in the summer. You set back and look at the NFL schedule and wonder which games down the stretch will determine the fate of these teams. Will matchups will have the most leverage? What will the “must win” games be?

This game between the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars isn’t exactly a “loser goes home” game, but it’s about as important as a game gets at this time of year. Both the Colts and Jaguars have an 8-4 record right now while the Texans are 7-5 and the Titans are 1-11. That means that, whoever wins this game this weekend, will walk away with the solo lead in the division. That makes our predictions and picks for this Week 14 matchup all the more interesting.

You’re welcome to have other Colts vs. Jaguars picks as well and still claim the $150 DraftKings Sportsbook welcome offer that we’ve also shared below!

Colts vs. Jaguars Predictions For Sunday 1:00 PM ET, NFL Week 14

Given these teams are in the same division, they naturally play each other fairly often. Twice a year in fact. Over the past two years, the Jaguars have won three of four but the Colts won the most recent matchup 26-23 in overtime last January. They play this week and then they play again in a couple of weeks in Week 17.

As we mentioned, the winner of this game will walk away with the lead in the AFC South. The Jaguars have quietly won four of their last five to jump back into the conversation, with their lone loss coming to the Texans. The Colts on the other hand, have been slipping a bit after there hot start, losing three of their last five. That’s left the door open for Trevor Lawrence and company.

Indianapolis Colts: Daniel Jones Playing Hurt

Daniel Jones is playing through a fracture in his fibula - in layman’s terms, a broken leg. He’ll have some unique protection as he told reporters that his college friends who own a 3D printing company printed him a protective padding for his leg. That likely won’t change his lack of mobility much, however. The quarterback, who is known to take off and scramble, ran just once for one yard last week. The Jaguars are a tough run defense,  so they can’t just rely on Jonathan Taylor here.

On defense, the Colts have been middle of the pack both against the pass and the run. Not great, not terrible. They attempted to improve the pass defense by trading for Sauce Gardner, but he quickly suffered a calf strain and will be out this week. The one spot where the Colts have been weaker than average would be against the tight end, as their linebackers like Zaire Franklin have struggled a bit in coverage.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Making A Late Surge

Teams can often show some growing pains when a new coach comes in. The incumbent players might not fit the scheme or be able to quickly pick up the scheme. They moved on from guys like Evan Engram and Christian Kirk, for instance, as they were not good scheme fits. But the Jaguars have caught stride lately and Trevor Lawrence has looked rocked solid despite missing Travis Hunter and playing with a less than 100% Brian Thomas. The run game has certainly helped keep them going.

The Jaguars defense this year has been a little bit lopsided. They are actually allowing the fewest rush yards per game of any team at 82.4. That’s led teams to throw against them more often than not where they are allowing over 200 yards a game through the air. Like the Colts, they have been particularly susceptible to tight ends so far this season. More on that below.

Colts vs. Jaguars: Tyler Warren Over 53.5 Yards (-110 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

The Cincinnati Bengals have been arguably the worst team I’ve ever seen against the tight end this year. They are allowing 23.6 PPR points per game to the position on average. Over the last five years, the next worst team against the tight end was the 2020 Jets who allowed 18.0 fantasy PPG. So the Bengals are worse by over five points.

Quietly, though, the third-worst team, is this Jaguars team at 17.6 points. We would be talking about that a lot more if it weren’t for the Bengals. That makes this an absolute smash spot for Tyler Warren matchup-wise. Then you have to factor in that Daniel Jones is playing with a broken leg. Over his first 11 games, Daniel Jones averaged 2.79 seconds to throw. This past week that dropped to 2.52 seconds, third fasted of any QB on the week. He’s got a broken leg, so it makes sense to get the ball out quick.

If you are looking for a same game parlay play, we actually like taking the under on Brenton Strange at 45.5 yards. That’s with or without Parker Washington playing, but we want to lock it in in case he does. I think some folks have gotten a bit too far over their skis on Strange after only having 4-to-5 targets in the last two games. Betting the over is a very popular tout on social media and that has pushed that line up from where it opened closer to 40.
