Browns vs. Eagles Predictions For NFL Preseason Week 2, Saturday 8/16
Both the Browns and Eagles came away with NFL preseason Week 1 wins, but they were on completely opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of the attention they got. There couldn’t have been more discussion when it came to Cleveland, thanks to QB Shedeur Sanders.Â
Meanwhile, in Philly, they took down a Cincinnati Bengals team that featured both superstars QB Joe Burrow AND WR Ja'Marr Chase without even having Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts and 2,000-yard rusher Saquon Barkley take the field. In terms of who we see taking the field this Saturday, we’re expecting more of the same.
The biggest difference from last weekend will likely be the Browns QB situation. That’s not to say Shedeur Sanders DEFINITELY won’t be featured again, but to say that injured Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, AND Dillon Gabriel will have all had a week to recover. Along with Tyler Huntley, we could even see five QBs take the field!
So much competition surely means that Browns vs. Eagles predictions should focus on Cleveland, right? Well, apparently those making the lines don’t think so; the latest Browns vs. Eagles odds have Philly as clear favorites!

Browns vs. Eagles Best Bet: Philly -3 Points (-110 At Bet365)
When it comes to making NFL preseason best bets, motivation is always a key factor. That’s why it may be surprising to see that our Browns vs. Eagles picks are focused on the home team.
Well, speaking of being at home, it certainly doesn't hurt the Eagles that they’ve gotten to remain in Philly the entire offseason. They used that to their advantage last weekend to continue their regular-season trend of scoring 28.2 points per game at home. Scoring 34 points without key starters against a Bengals team putting their best foot forward is nothing to ignore.
As for the Cleveland side of things, Shedeur Sanders exceeding expectations (at least in the eyes of many) may end up being what hinders his follow-up performance. While it may not be another Super Bowl for the Eagles, we’d bet that their defense will be far more motivated and inclined to prevent Sanders from having a repeat showing, if he sees the field at all, that is.
Unfortunately for Sanders, while he was in line to start against Philly's strong defense, he left Wednesday's joint practice early with an oblique injury that will likely keep him out of the game. Well, that means that we’ll instead have more of the 40-year-old Flacco, a less-than 100% Kenny Pickett, and another rookie, Dillon Gabriel. That’s not exactly our idea of a gauntlet to deal with.
Look, if more markets were available like Browns vs. Eagles player props, perhaps a different approach would be in order. With fewer options during the preseason, the best bet from our Browns vs. Eagles predictions is Philly -3 (-110 at Bet365).
