49ers vs. Seahawks Predictions, Picks & Odds: NFL Week 5, 10/11
This game is a beautiful oasis in a sea full of very strange games. Injuries and bye weeks will do that. But this San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks game would have already been a beauty given how these teams are playing. Throw in the fact that it’s a heated rivalry, and it immediately becomes a top game of the week.
The big story with the 49ers has been injuries, especially to the wide receiver position. All substation jokes aside, they’ve lost Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, De’Zaughn Stribling, and they have seen Mike Evans battle various ailments. Yet Brock Purdy and company have found ways to get it done every step of the way to remain undefeated.
The bar for the Seattle Seahawks is obviously set just as high, if not higher, after winning the Super Bowl last year. And they currently sit at 3-1, so a win this week to tie at the top of the division with the 49ers would go a long way. They have struggled to replace running back Kenneth Walker so far, but Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been just as elite as ever.
🏅 49ers vs. Seahawks Expert Pick: Emanuel Wilson Anytime Touchdown (-115 on DraftKings)
The Seattle Seahawks are clearly hurting at running back. They lost Kenneth Walker in free agency. Zach Charbonnet hasn’t returned following his knee injury. Now rookie Jadarian Price is on IR. They even tried to bring in some veteran options, but Joe Mixon failed his physical. They were able to sign some younger prospects in Robert Henry and Dontae McMillan, but how much of the playbook are they going to know by now?
That basically leaves them with Emanuel Wilson, George Holani, and the sporadic gadget play for Rashid Shaheed (I couldn’t find any rushing yard props for Shaheed, but that would be kind of fun). And, as it turns out, the scramble to add other backs could be related to a rib injury that has had Holani missing some practice time this week. The 49ers are a good team, but they have been a bit banged up, including missing Nick Bosa for this week, so they aren’t necessarily as formidable of a defense as you would imagine for a 4-0 team. I think the odds are pretty good that Emanuel Wilson finds paydirt at some point this week given the role he’s in. Last week he both scored a rushing touchdown and caught a receiving touchdown.

🏉 49ers vs. Seahawks Injury Report & Latest News
The San Francisco 49ers come in at 4-0 but are dealing with a mounting injury list. Nick Bosa (knee/calf) is expected to miss this game, a significant blow to the pass rush. Fullback Kyle Juszczyk is out two to three weeks with a knee sprain and bone bruise, while safety Marques Sigle is also out multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain. James Thompson Jr. is another likely absence with a high ankle sprain of his own. On a more positive note, defensive end Mykel Williams returned from IR and is eligible to play. Mike Evans will continue to battle his own ailments to play, so we expect him out there. Despite all the injuries to pass-catchers, Brock Purdy has still been one of the most efficient QBs in the league.
The Seattle Seahawks have dealt with injuries of their own but are off to a 3-1 start. After winning the Super Bowl, the fans only have one level of expectation. Sam Darnold is leading the offense after overcoming a glute injury he suffered on the first series of Week 1, but the defense has been the real engine driving this team. As we mentioned, the backfield has been a concern on the injury front with both Jadarian Price (chest, IR) and Zach Charbonnet ruled out and George Holani dealing with a rib issue. Seattle will also need to clean up a penalty problem after committing a franchise-record 150 penalty yards in last week’s win over the Chargers. The winner of this matchup makes a big statement at the top of the NFC West.
