Will these teams further separate the good from the great? Or will we see more upsets like we have all season long? Either way, let’s hope we can pick correctly against the spread!

With Week 9 here, we have just two teams on their bye week, leaving 30 of the 32 teams playing in 15 matchups across the league. NFL Week 9 Picks Against The Spread: Houston Texans -4.5 (-114 at Caesars Sportsbook) 

What is there left to say about the Los Angeles Chargers? They have easily been the most disappointing team in the NFL this season and still have zero wins through eight weeks. The offense is not clicking, Justin Herbert looks like a shell of who he once was, and now the team is without the heart of their defense, Derwin James. I am done expecting the Chargers to somehow turn it around and suddenly be good again.

While the Texans defense has also been underperforming compared to expectations, C.J. Stroud and the offense have looked sharper than ever. With at least one competent side of the ball, and potentially some issues on the defense getting cleaned up after the much-needed bye week, I think it is safe to back the Texans here to get back on track against what has been the punching bag of the 2026 NFL season. 

NFL Week 9 Picks Against The Spread: Las Vegas Raiders +10 (-112 at DraftKings Sportsbook) 

I don’t know what it is, but I cannot quit this Raiders team. While their record on the season is 4-4, they are currently tied for first against the spread at 6-2. With a spread this wide, I don’t see how the Raiders DON’T cover. After a four-game skid, they were able to bounce back last week against the New York Jets, their offense still ranks in the top half of the league despite inconsistencies running the ball, and they are up against a 49ers team still dealing with countless injuries.

I know the 49ers have been dominant this season, but the last time we saw them, their injury struggles caused them to drop their first game to an inconsistent Falcons team with a score of 29-20. With several star players, including Christian McCaffrey and Mike Evans, still not practicing today, I am shocked to see the spread this wide. The Raiders were able to keep the game close against other powerhouse teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills at nearly full strength; I’d expect them to do the same here in San Francisco.
