NFL Training Camp Updates, Live News, Injuries: Patriots, Commanders Brawl

Joint Practice Updates - Patriots & Commanders Fight

With many teams creeping up on their first NFL preseason action of the year, we have gotten to see a lot of teams start to practice with one another, which brings a whole other level of intensity to practices. This felt especially noticeable in the practice session between the Patriots and Commanders. During an 11-on-11 drill, rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson took a Commanders defender to the ground while in pass protection, which started a scrum between the two teams. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel attempted to break up the initial fight, eventually finding himself at the bottom of a pile of players with a bloody cut across his right cheek.

Outside of the fight, the Patriots did seem to shine on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Drake Maye, DeMario Douglas, and Efton Chism specifically stood out

Some other recent joint practices included the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns, where the Panthers supposedly outclassed the Browns, the Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys, where it is clear the Cowboys are lacking in the run game, both on offense and defense, and the Baltimore Ravens and the Indianapolis Colts, where Colts receiver Adonai Mitchell and linebacker Hunter Wohler were surpise standouts.

Micah Parsons Update - Parsons to the Rams?

While together at joint practices, Micah Parsons was reportedly chatting with several Rams players, including Davante Adams and Jared Verse. Could they potentially be attempting to recruit Parsons, who requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys last week? It certainly seems possible, as even Rams legend Aaron Donald got in on the action in the Instagram comments of a post suggesting the Rams target Parsons.

Micah Parsons replied to Donald's suggestion that he unretire by tagging his agent in the comments section. It is worth noting that neither Micah Parsons nor his team has spoken with Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones since requesting a trade. Even with many teammates publicly supporting Parsons and Parsons still helping and coaching his teammates from the sidelines, Jones still believes his way is the correct way and that he should not have to work through Parsons' agent to get a deal done. The owner did note that he is unsure about Parsons' availability for Week One, but he is still not looking to trade the superstar pass rusher.

NFC South Wide Receivers Shine - McMillan, London

In this NFL Training Camp Update, I already noted that the Carolina Panthers outclassed the Cleveland Browns in their joint practice today. Well, rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan was a big part of that. Thus far into training camp, he and quarterback Bryce Young have developed a great connection and are making highlight plays together

Looking at another team in the NFC South, the Atlanta Falcons are stacked with playmakers. While the headlines have been flooded with more people swearing it is FINALLY Kyle Pitts' year (yes, I am guilty of this as well), the real star of the Falcons' training camp has been wide receiver Drake London. London has looked unstoppable so far this offseason and may be the REAL fantasy football target this year (don't worry, Kyle Pitts, I'll still draft you).

Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp Update - Roman Wilson

The headlines around Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers have been oddly quiet for this time of year… No more Rodgers drama? No Steelers diva wide receiver causing trouble for head coach Mike Tomlin? Maybe the Steelers actually are all in this year?

So far in NFL Training Camp Updates, we have seen the highs, Aaron Rodgers speak glowingly about being with a historic organization like the Steelers and a legendary coach like Mike Tomlin, but we have also seen the lows, with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith rolling out a four tight end set with tight end Jonnu Smith lining up in the backfield. Still, fewer headlines than what we are used to with this new combination of Rodgers and Tomlin.

Today's story, though, surrounds the wide-open WR2 position across from DK Metcalf. Many people are looking to second-year wide receiver Roman Wilson to make the leap and become a reliable starter, but after running the wrong route today and receiving a glare from Aaron Rodgers, that dream might be over. It's clear that people noticed “the glare,” because Rodgers was asked about Wilson and his potential contributions after practice.

NFL Training Camp Injury Update & Transactions: Keenan Allen Returns to LA

On top of all of our NFL Training Camp Updates on the field, plenty of news happened off the field as well. Check out our NFL Training Camp Injury Update & Transactions.

Keenan Allen Signs

After a one-year stint in Chicago with the Bears, Keenan Allen has returned to the Los Angeles Chargers on a one-year deal. In 2023, his last year with the Chargers, Allen totaled 108 receptions, 1,243 yards, and seven touchdowns from quarterback Justin Herbert in only 13 games.

Matthew Stafford Injury Update

In what was first reported as a precautionary rest seems a little more serious now. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is dealing with an aggravated disc in his back and has received epidurals to deal with the pain. Despite the potential severity of the injury, Stafford is still aiming to play in Week One.

Jaycee Horn Injury Update

Carolina Panthers star corner Jaycee Horn was in a car accident this morning, causing him to miss practice today. Horn needed stitches in his left hand as a result and is considered day-to-day, but reported on X that he is okay.

Jalen Ramsey Injury Update

After being acquired via trade this offseason, Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey has not practiced for the last two days. Today, he was spotted at practice with a leg sleeve. There are no additional updates in regards to his injury right now.
