Yesterday was a massive day in the NFL, with roster cuts, Travis Kelce's engagement, and much more. Today, there is plenty of news as well! The NFL regular season is right around the corner, and we still have several unanswered questions across several different teams, so let's dive into the NFL News & Rumors This Week!

Top NFL News & Rumors This Week:

Today's top NFL News and Rumors feature an update on the Kyle Hamilton extension, the Tim Patrick trade, and much more!

Baltimore Ravens Extend Kyle Hamilton

Jerry Jones, take notes, THIS is how you handle your young defensive talent and their contract extensions. The Baltimore Ravens are signing superstar safety Kyle Hamilton to a four-year extension worth just over $100 million. Hamilton is entering his fourth year in the league and is considered not only one of the most talented safeties but one of the most versatile safeties as well. The two-time Pro Bowler and former first-team All-Pro can now add “highest paid safety” to his list of accolades, as he passes Lions' Kerby Joseph and his four-year, $85 million extension.

Tim Patrick Traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars

Veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick is on the move! The Detroit Lions have traded Patrick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 2026 6th-round pick. Patrick spent just one year with the Lions after missing the two prior seasons due to season-ending injuries. While this trade does not have groundbreaking fantasy implications, the 31-year-old will be able to provide a veteran presence in a young Jaguars wide receiver group featuring rookie Travis Hunter and second-year player Brian Thomas This also opens up more opportunities for rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa on the Lions, who now slots in as their WR3.

Veteran Wide Receivers on the Move

Yesterday was the deadline for NFL teams to cut their rosters down to 53 players, which led to some surprising names being released, waived, or added to practice squads. Two worth noting are the veteran wide receivers Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Kendrick Bourne.

Valdes-Scantling joined the New Orleans Saints halfway through the 2024 season last year and provided a spark to a struggling offense. He proceeded to follow his offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, to the Seattle Seahawks this NFL offseason to slot in as their WR3 and deep threat, similar to the role he played for the Saints. What looked to potentially be an opportunity to reignite his career ended early, as he was not included on the Seahawks' 53-man roster. Luckily for Valdes-Scantling, he was quickly picked up by the San Francisco 49ers, who are currently dealing with several wide receiver injuries.

Meanwhile, veteran Kendrick Bourne, who has been a reliable set of hands for the New England Patriots since 2021, was released from the Patriots today and is looking for a fresh start. He was injured for most of training camp, but is finally healthy and is expected to have interest from multiple teams, including San Francisco, where he started his career.

Fantasy Football News & Rumors

We are currently in peak fantasy football draft season, which means it is essential to keep up with all the latest news and rumors that could shake up your fantasy football targets and fades! This is where the big news happened today, so let's dive in! Check out our latest Fantasy Football News & Rumors below, including the Adam Thielen trade and Rashee Rice suspension

Adam Thielen Traded to the Minnesota Vikings

The homecoming has finally come to be. Adam Thielen has been traded from the Carolina Panthers back to the Minnesota Vikings for multiple pick swaps. Thielen, entering his 12th year of his NFL career, spent his first nine years with the Vikings and now gets to immediately slot in as their WR3 and primary slot option behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. With several receivers dealing with injuries and Addison facing a suspension to start the NFL season, Thielen is expected to make an immediate impact from Week One, so he could be a fantasy football value, currently being priced at WR61.

Meanwhile, for Carolina, this move opens up more targets for several of their young weapons, including Tetairoa McMillan, Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker, and Jimmy Horn. This offense found a spark to end last season, so WR29 McMillan should be able to feast in fantasy football, with no one in his way to claim the WR1 spot anymore.

Rashee Rice Suspension Update

In what was an expected move, the suspension of Rashee Rice has finally come true. The Chiefs' star wide receiver will face a suspension during the first six games of the NFL season. Rice is currently priced as the WR26, and could see his price drop now that the move has been made official.
