NFL Week 8 concludes tonight with Monday Night Football and we are looking to finish our football betting week strong. Or at least stronger than we finished on Sunday after 10 of the 14 favorites won their games outright and most covered the spread. Will that be the trend tonight as the Las Vegas Raiders travel to Motown to take on Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs and the rest of the Detroit Lions? We have some very interesting match-ups to explore both for our game bets and our player props, but we also have a number of NFL injuries to which we need to check out, especially with Amon-Ra St. Brown landing on the report Sunday afternoon which is never a good sign. Let’s see what looks good for tonight.

NFL Monday Night Football Best Bets: Las Vegas Raiders vs Detroit Lions

The Spread: Lions -7

We’ve got some intriguing things happening for this game as both sides have been hit with injuries. The Raiders will be getting Jimmy Garoppolo back this week but will be without one of their top defensive players in Divine Deablo. They also could be missing CB Nate Hobbs and their kicker Daniel Carlson continues to be plagued by a groin injury. For the Lions, it looks like LG Jonah Jackson and C Frank Ragnow will be out while Halapoulivaato Vaitai is questionable. In addition to that, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown was added to the injury report Sunday with that same illness that has been running rampant through other locker rooms like New Orleans and Kansas City. How much will all that affect things? Probably more than we’d like. The line has gotten as high as Detroit minus-8, but has seemingly settled with word of Garoppolo’s return. The offensive line issues for the Lions concern me, but their defense should be strong enough to contain. Pick: Lions -7

The Total: 46.5

While the over is 4-3 in Detroit’s games this season, it sits at 2-5 in Raiders games. On Monday Night Football, though. The under is 8-1 this season. So the over is “due,” as they say? I’m not so sure. I believe the Lions can win this one and cover the spread, but just how much scoring we actually see, even in the wake of the Raiders being a defensively-challenged team, remains to be seen. Offensive line issues for Detroit, a struggling Raiders offense against the Lions? We’ll err on the side of caution and let the MNF trend be our friend. Pick: Under 46.5
