NFL Injury Report 2026 Ahead of Sunday's Week 5 Games: Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins
The injury bug isn't slowing down in Fantasy Football or the NFL. With multiple major injuries to star players this week, we have many questions to answer before setting lineups for this weekend. With each position being affected and bye weeks starting, lineup decisions will only get tougher. Let’s take a look at who we’re monitoring during the coming week.
NFL Week 5 Injury Report: Quarterbacks
Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens)
Jackson did not practice all week and will be OUT this weekend. Tyler Huntley will get the start in his place and has been a decent backup, but is more of a superflex option than a 1QB option.
Caleb Williams (Chicago Bears)
Despite head coach Ben Johnson stating that backup Tyson Bagent would start this week, Caleb Williams returned to practice in a limited fashion this week. While I still expect Bagent to start, this is a good sign for Williams' availability for week 6 and on.
Jayden Daniels (Washington Commanders)
Daniels will get the nod this week as he is healthy and will have no limitations per offensive coordinator David Blough. He will wear a brace on his injured left elbow, but he is not expected to have any issues.
NFL Week 5 Injury Report: Running Backs
Kyle Monangai (Chicago Bears)
Monangai has been ruled out of this week's game after leaving Week 4 with a thumb injury and a turf toe injury. While the thumb seems to be fine, his toe kept him out of practice this week, and he will not be active. D’Andre Swift likely sees a boost to his usage, but will need to avoid fumbles to stay on the field.
Saquon Barkley (Philadelphia Eagles)
Barkley continues to deal with a hamstring injury and will be inactive this weekend. With Tank Bigsby placed on injured reserve, Will Shipley is in line for just the 2nd start of his career.
Breece Hall (New York Jets)
Hall continues to deal with a quadriceps injury that has kept him out of practice since the injury occurred in Week 3. He will miss this weekend's game, with Braelon Allen getting the start.
Jeremiyah Love (Arizona Cardinals)
Love was limited in practice this week with an ankle injury. That said, head coach Mike LaFleur stated he is trending in the right direction to suit up this weekend. Keep an eye here, but I would expect him to play, albeit with limited upside.
Ashton Jeanty (Las Vegas Raiders)
Jeanty is dealing with an ankle/foot injury and has been limited in practice this week. That said, head coach Klint Kubiak has stated that he will do his best to go this weekend. If he’s unable to play, Mike Washington likely gets the starting nod.
Jaylen Wright (Miami Dolphins)
Wright appeared on the injury report this week with a foot injury, which limited him in practice. If he’s unable to practice/play, Ollie Gordon is the preferred option in this backfield, but is more in the RB3 range.
Alvin Kamara (New Orleans Saints)
Kamara missed Wednesday practice with a back injury. He returned in a limited fashion on Thursday and Friday. He will be one to monitor going into the weekend. Should he be inactive, Kendre Miller is listed as the backup and will get the start.
Rhamondre Stevenson (New England Patriots)
Stevenson showed up to practice this week with a knee injury that has kept him limited this week. I’m expecting him to play, but he might lose touches.
NFL Week 5 Injury Report: Wide Receivers
DJ Moore (Buffalo Bills)
Moore was not spotted at practice this week, and at this time I am not expecting him to play. Keon Coleman saw a boost in usage and production with him off the field, and I’m projecting the same this week.
Ja'Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals)
At the time of writing, Chase remains in concussion protocol. As a result, he will have a questionable tag heading into the weekend. If he can clear protocol, fantasy managers will be happy to know their WR1 is back.
Tee Higgins (Cincinnati Bengals)
Higgins is heading into the weekend with a dual injury tag for both his groin and neck. He practiced in full on Friday, opening the door to him being fully active and good to go on Sunday.
Tank Dell (Houston Texans)
Dell has been limited in practice this week, but has not been activated at this time. Given his 21-day window was just opened, it’s unlikely we see him until next week at the earliest.
Keenan Allen (Indianapolis Colts)
Allen has been limited in practice this week and will be listed as questionable this weekend. Should he be able to play, I’m expecting a hit to production given his skill set relies more heavily on his route-running than anything else, and a groin injury can hamper a receiver in and out of their breaks.
Ladd McConkey (Los Angeles Chargers)
McConkey was not spotted at practice this week, and I’m not expecting him to play this weekend. With Quentin Johnston also ruled out with a chest injury, and an injury to Brenan Thompson, the Chargers starting wide receivers this weekend may be Tre Harris, Derius Davis, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings)
Jefferson logged three limited practices this week, entering the weekend with a questionable tag. That said, I’m expecting the WR1 to be active this weekend, and if he’s healthy, he’s right back into lineups.
Jordan Addison (Minnesota Vikings)
Addison popped up with a hamstring injury this week, and after not practicing Wednesday, he was able to practice in a limited fashion Thursday and Friday. I’m expecting Addison to go, and he is a decent flex option.
DeVonta Smith (Philadelphia Eagles)
Smith has not yet returned to practice this week and is inactive this weekend. With Dontayvion Wicks also popping up with a hamstring injury on Thursday, Darius Cooper may operate as the WR1 for this offense this weekend.
Terry McLaurin (Washington Commanders)
McLaurin returned to practice Friday, and while head coach Dan Quinn stated he looked good, his status is still up in the air for this weekend. Keep an eye on the inactives pre-game, and be prepared to flex should McLaurin be inactive.
Michael Pittman (Pittsburgh Steelers)
Pittman aggravated the plantar fasciitis in his left foot that caused him to miss the team's game in week 2. He is expected to miss multiple weeks with this injury, and the injured reserve is still on the table per head coach Mike McCarthy.
Mike Evans (San Francisco 49ers)
Evans has a rib injury, but was able to run off to the side during practice on Thursday and should be good to go this weekend.
Stefon Diggs (Washington Commanders)
Diggs popped up with a hamstring injury this week, and early reports suggest he will not play this weekend. The Commanders may be down their top receiving options.
Zay Flowers (Baltimore Ravens)
Flowers has been limited in practice this week with a foot injury. He’s currently expected to play and could operate at a high level with Tyler Huntley at the helm.
NFL Week 5 Injury Report: Tight Ends
Dallas Goedert (Philadelphia Eagles)
Goedert has not practiced since suffering a knee injury earlier this year. Zach Ertz was brought back to help pick up some of the slack here, but the Eagles tight end room has been a collection of injuries this season. Ertz may hold some value if Goedert remains out, but practice reports will tell us just how close he is to returning.
Charlie Kolar (Los Angeles Chargers)
Kolar has returned to practice in a limited fashion and appears to be ready to return to game action.
