The injury list coming out of Week 12 may not be all that long but it isn't short on impact players with notable names like Aaron Rodgers, Darnell Mooney and Michael Carter suffering injuries during Sunday's contests. With the fantasy football playoffs quickly coming potentially losing any of these players for extended periods of time can be a big blow. Of course, we'll still have to wait for more news Monday as there are always some bumps, bruises and soft-tissue injuries that crop up the day after. For now, we'll take the short list and figure out how to deal with it.

NFL Quarterback Injury Updates

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (Oblique)

Rodgers was already dealing with a broken thumb but he came out of the Packers Week 12 game on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles prior to the start of the 4th quarter with what the team has reported as an oblique injury. Rodgers did not re-enter the team's contest and Jordan Love took over under center for the Packers. In Week 13 the Packers are on the road against the Chicago Bears so it will be interesting to see if this injury ends up being one that ends the season for Rodgers now that the Packers are just 4-8 on the year.

NFL Running Back Injury Updates

Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers (Knee)

Fantasy managers certainly are always walking on egg shells when it comes to the health of Christian McCaffrey given the amount of time he has missed over the past few seasons. Today CMC left the game with what is being described as “knee irritation”  by the team's head coach Kyle Shanahan. McCaffrey was able to return to the game for the 49ers so it wasn't something so dire but given the injury history of the player, fantasy managers should be sure to stay up-to-date on all the news surrounding CMC during practice this week.

Elijah Mitchell,  San Francisco 49ers (Knee)

Unlike CMC, Mitchell was no so lucky as the 49ers backup running back suffered what is though to be a possible MCL sprain. Mitchell missed time with an MCL sprain already this season and the team will need to run additional testing before determining how long he will be out of the lineup.

Michael Carter, New York Jets (Ankle)

There wasn't a wealth of information given after the Jets win over the Bears on Sunday regarding the status of their starting running back who suffered an ankle sprain during the team's win and did not return to the game.  The Jets had James Robinson as a healthy inactive for today and instead opted for Ty Johnson and Zonovan Knight  in their backfield. Knight lead the backfield in carries after Carter went out, totaling 14 carries for 69 yards while adding three catches for 34 yards. Should Carter be forced to miss time you can bet Johnson and Knight to be popular waiver wire adds.

Travis Etienne, Jacksonville Jaguars (Foot)

Etienne got just two carries in the Jaguars upset win over the Ravens on Sunday, exiting the game with a foot injury.  Of course, a foot injury is what forced Etienne to miss all of his rookie season so fantasy managers were certainly in a bit of a panic. After the game Jaguars head coach shed a little light on the status of his starting running back as he told reporters the team never officially ruled Etienne out and felt like he could have returned to the game but that it was his own decision to keep Etienne from returning.

NFL Wide Receiver Injury Updates

Darnell Mooney,  Chicago Bears (Ankle)

Unfortunately the reports are not good for Mooney with Ian Rapoport tweeting that Mooney likely needs season ending surgery to repair what is expected to be torn ligaments in his ankle. The team will have additional information following testing in the coming days but things do not look good for Mooney here. With Mooney now likely out fantasy managers should expect Chase Claypool to slot into that top receiver role for Chicago.
