Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Report October 24th
Published: Oct 24, 2021
Welcome to the Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Report! The waiver wire is key to winning. It helps you improve on the team you drafted, and to help patch holes when players go down due to injury. It’s something most managers will monitor daily. Let’s take a look at who we should be adding this week.
Rickard Rakell - Anaheim Ducks - Winger
It’s hard to get excited about the Anaheim Ducks, but Rickard Rakell has been strong to start the season, four goals in six games and adding 24 shots on goal. It is unlikely that he keeps this production up, but maybe this success gets him traded to a contender later on in the season? He’s worth a roster spot on a fantasy team looking for offence.
Jonathan Drouin - Montreal Canadiens - Winger
There are a lot of things wrong with the Montreal Canadiens, but Jonathan Drouin is not one of them. He’s been really good to start the season-- scoring two goals and adding three assists-- and has found a home on the second line. It’s early in the season, but he could realistically put up 60-plus points if he keeps this pace up. Not too bad for a player that is only 17% owned in Yahoo! leagues.
Adin Hill - San Jose Sharks - Goalie
Are the San Jose Sharks an elite hockey team? This success is most likely temporary, but Adin Hill has been strong to start the season, and he should see the majority of the starts. Will he be good all season? Probably not, but for now, he’s worth owning and is a great pickup as a third goalie.
Pierre-Luc Dubois - Winnipeg Jets - Center
Pierre-Luc Dubois is starting to heat up-- scoring four goals in his last four games-- while also adding two assists. We know he can score goals, and it’s nice to see him getting the job done. The Jets need him to contribute if they want to compete for a playoff spot this season, and fantasy owners would be smart to scoop him up if he’s still sitting on the waiver wire. He has 60-point potential, and playing on a team with players like Kyle Connor, Nikolaj Ehlers and Blake Wheeler can only help him achieve that milestone.
Noah Dobson - New York Islanders - Defence
Noah Dobson is starting to see a healthy amount of playing time, and this is good news for fantasy owners. He’s moved up to the top power play unit and has three points in five games. He’s not going to blow anyone away, but in the short-term, he’s an interesting option for fantasy owners who need some help on the back end. He’s widely available on most platforms and should be added in deeper formats.
