Matthew Stafford winning the MVP is a nice consolation prize. But every player in this league is going to tell you that they would trade it all for a Super Bowl ring. The Rams were one of a handful of teams who COULD have won in 2025 if things broke right. So they’re going to lick their wounds and try again in 2026.

Our task today is to look at the weapons for the Rams and figure out how they might do that. We’ll look at the depth chart, the contracts, and the salary cap to assess what’s most likely to happen in free agency. If there is a fantasy football-relevant spin, we’ll mention that too. And, if you want to know exactly where we rank the Rams players for dynasty leagues become a Fantasy Alarm Member today to access our full Dynasty Fantasy Football Rankings along with our buy, hold, or sell recommendations!

Los Angeles Rams Free Agency 2026

CURRENT PROJECTED TOP 51 2026 SALARIES: $267M

CURRENT ESTIMATED 2026 TEAM CAP SPACE: $43M

Free Agent Types

Unrestricted free agent: Any player with four or more accrued seasons whose contract has expired. They are free to negotiate with any team.

Restricted free agent: A player with three accrued seasons and an expired contract. The CBA allowed for NFL teams to tender these players to one year qualifying offers to retain them. Another team can sign them but would need to provide the tendering team with compensation. In layman’s terms, if a new team signs a player, the current team can match it or they receive the corresponding pick from the new team. These are the projected RFA tender levels per OverTheCap.com:

  • 1st Round - $7,893,000
  • 2nd Round - $5,658,000
  • Right of First Refusal - $3,453,000

Exclusive rights free agent: Any player with fewer than three accrued seasons and an expired contract. If his original team offers him a one-year contract at the league minimum, the player cannot negotiate with other teams. If the team wants the player back, these contracts are a no-brainer as the player either needs to play on the contract or sit out.

Rams Quarterback Depth Chart

Matthew Stafford: Matthew Stafford is the MVP of the league and on track to be a Hall of Famer. This season did wonders for his fantasy value, not only in terms of performance, but decreasing the odds that he retires. Despite being a year older, there was a much bigger debate on that last year than there is this year. And yes, sometimes throwing more touchdown passes is as simple as adding Davante Adams

Jimmy GaroppoloThe Rams certainly liked having Jimmy Garoppolo around. But his plan to be the heir to Matthew Stafford seems to have been put on the back burner. So there’s been a lot of speculation that Jimmy G could take his services on the road to teams like the Dolphins or Vikings in free agency. He still wants a chance to start in this league.

Stetson BennettBennett has now been in the league for three years and has yet to take a snap. So you’d think he’d have a handle on the Rams playbook by now - the question is whether they trust him to step in and start if Stafford goes down. We’ll find out for sure this offseason with their free agent moves. Even if they draft someone, Bennett’s experience could have him as QB2. Kliff Kingsbury has been a QB whisperer of sorts so maybe his addition will be good for Bennett.

  • Reserves/Futures: N/A

RAMS QB FREE AGENCY TAKE: If Jimmy G is gone, there is a chance they bring in a backup that is above the Bennett level. Obviously it’s not going to be someone who wants to compete for a job right now as that job is spoken for. So either a known backup or a development guy. Sam Howell, for instance, did spend a season in Washington with Kliff Kingsbury. Here are some names.

POSSIBLE FREE AGENT OPTIONS: Jimmy Garoppolo, Kenny Pickett, Carson Wentz, Zach Wilson, Sam Howell

Rams Runningback Depth Chart

Kyren WilliamsKyren Williams is a great example of why we need to be careful with the combine. Because his was terrible. But the Rams famously don’t really care about the combine. So, when Williams slid in the draft, they took him. And he played so well they made him a rich man with a second contract.

Sean McVay has typically been a one back kind of guy. And this season started off that way with Kyren Williams playing upwards of 90% of the snaps in some games early like usual. But, as the season trickled on, Blake Corum started to play more. Many speculated that it was just to keep Williams fresh for the playoffs but Corum actually played some of his biggest snap shares in those games, hovering at 37-38%. So Kyren for me might quietly be a sell in dynasty leagues as the large snap shares and great offense were big drivers of his value.

One important thing to keep in mind in that regard is that Kyren Williams can be released next year for $10M in savings and zero dead cap. None. It’s basically a $10M team option where $2.3M of it becomes guaranteed on March 15th. So, if Blake Corum takes another step forward, Kyren could get gone in 2027. When you actually consider this is kind of the “last year of his deal” and that he can be traded with all $11.64M clearing the books, he’s kind of a sneaky trade candidate that no one is considering.

Blake CorumIt was looking kind of bleak for a bit there but obviously Blake Corum really showed some signs of life in 2025. He never quite forced a 50/50 split - in fact, he only went above a 40% snap share once. But in the playoff games he played 37%, 37%, and 38% of the snaps so he’s not just a pure backup anymore. In 2026 he should be a handcuff plus type player in fantasy with 2027 being his chance to shine if things break his way.

Ronnie RiversRonnie Rivers doesn’t play much on offense but he does contribute on four different special teams units including returning some kicks. He’s an unrestricted free agent but that’s his path back to the roster in 2026.

Jarquez HunterIf the Rams do part ways with Kyren Williams, you’d have to think Jarquez Hunter plays a part in that. This is a profile that we like for offense vs. just special teams guys. And this Les Snead scouting group has hit on a lot of day three guys so, if we are betting on late round players, this isn’t a bad place to look.

RAMS RB FREE AGENCY TAKE: The Rams have no reason to sign free agent running backs with what they have. In fact, no one is really talking about how the extension given to Kyren Williams doesn’t make him particularly solid on the Rams for the future. He could be traded right now for ~$11.6M in savings or cut/traded next year for $10M in savings and those moves would carry ZERO dead cap. In a vacuum the contract looks like something they would want to keep but, in the context of having to pay guys like Puka Nacua, you shouldn’t actually be surprised if he’s traded this year or even released next year.

That makes Blake Corum and/or Jarquez Hunter very interesting dynasty stashes for me. Hunter especially looks buried on the depth chart to the casual observer but may not be as far away from meaningful work as it seems.

Rams Wide Receiver Depth Chart

Puka NacuaPuka Nacua is a one of one. His aggressive style of play and willingness as a blocker is what makes him great but also what potentially makes him injury-prone. If it wasn’t for that, and possibly some odd off-field business, Nacua would be a slam dunk for an extension that makes him one of the highest paid wide receivers. Which he likely will be, whether it’s with the Rams or elsewhere after this year.

For me, the combination of those questions and an aging Matthew Stafford make me a little hesitant to go all-in on him in dynasty leagues. Some folks even crown him as the dynasty WR1 but I’d still rather the safety of someone like Ja'Marr Chase tied to Joe Burrow even if he is a year older. We all saw what happened with the QB change for Justin Jefferson this year. As for 2026 though, Nacua is locked in and he’s a top fantasy football asset in his role.

Davante AdamsWe often say it that the difference between really good players and Hall of Fame players is longevity. I believe Davante Adams is a Hall of Fame caliber player so we were betting on him last year. And, for the most part, that paid off. His role in this scheme is easy to contextualize when you consider the offshoots of it in Tampa Bay and Jacksonville with proteges of Sean McVay. Davante Adams, Mike Evans, and Brian Thomas Jr play the big split end role while guys like Puka Nacua, Chris Godwin, and Parker Washington get to play the easier role as the slot/flanker. If you are HoF caliber guy like Adams or Evans, you can thrive and be a big redzone threat in the role while BTJ had a tough time adjusting to facing top corners every week.

As for your dynasty fantasy football leagues, the take on Adams is pretty simple. If you are playing to win now, you want guys like this. If you are blowing it up or rebuilding, he should be the first player you trade.

Jordan WhittingtonWhitington was the de facto WR3 here but the Rams really did not opt to run as many three WR sets as they historically have. They also rotated guys in this spot so, in many games, Whittington wasn’t even cracking the 50% mark. There was some hype for him in fantasy circles but, like most sixth round picks, he’s probably more of a depth guy. He does help return kicks while contributing on multiple special teams units which keeps his roster spot safe at the very least.

Konata Mumpfield: Mumpfield was part of that aforementioned rotation. He was particularly useful when Davante Adams was out for a stretch. There was some steam around him as well but he’s not particularly big or fast so it’s hard to envision the seventh-round pick taking a giant leap. If you are going to stash guys in deep leagues where all the Day One and Two draft picks are rostered, stashing late round guys that Les Snead picks isn’t a bad strategy.

Xavier SmithXavier Smith was once again the primary punt returner while contributing on other special teams units. He’s an exclusive rights free agent so I expect them to easily exercise that and bring him back for the league minimum.

Tutu AtwellAt this stage it seems the story of the speedy field stretcher in Los Angeles has run it’s course - I expect Atwell to try his hand with another team in free agency.

RAMS WR FREE AGENCY TAKE: They paid up for Davante Adams but every player currently under contract is a Day Three pick or undrafted free agent (Tutu Atwell was a 2nd round pick but his contract has expired). The Rams could stay put here, relying heavily on Adams and Nacua. But they could also add a WR3.

Given they have a split end and a slot/flanker, I think adding a speedy field-stretcher makes some sense. They could also look to the draft where some are speculating they could go for big names like Carnell Tate. But these are the free agents who might fit the bill on a reasonable deal.

POSSIBLE FREE AGENT OPTIONS: Rashid Shaheed, Tyquan Thornton, Marquise Brown, Dyami Brown, Brandin Cooks

Rams Tight End Depth Chart

Tyler HigbeeTyler Higbee was the starting tight end for the Rams. But injuries limied him for a chunk of the season. By the time he returned towards the finals tretch, Colby Parkinson had taken over as the starter with guys like Davis Allen and Terrance Ferguson also playing ahead at times. I think we see Higbee walk here in free agency.

Colby ParkinsonColby Parkinson has been given some pretty big opportunities here but hasn’t quite popped on the fantasy football front. One of the key issues is for him is that he’s primarily used as an inline tight end and often asked to block. His 23% pass blocking rate is clearly above the 15% mark we need guys to stay below for elite upside, per our extensive research. So, if folks out there are excited about Tyler Higbee leaving, just keep in mind that Parkinson was already playing 70-80% of the snaps with Higbee there. And now is probably the time to sell Parkinson in dynasty.

Terrance FergusonThe guy we really like here is actually Terrance Ferguson. He was the complete opposite of Parkinson. They had him line up at WR for ~70% of his snaps and only pass block on 2.2%. And he was running serious routes. If you take all the tight ends that got 25 or more targets in 2025 and sort them by average depth of target (aDot), Terrance Ferguson’s 18.3 aDot leads the pack by a mile.

Davis AllenThe usage for Davis Allen was similar to Colby Parkinson, except he played fewer snaps. Both played inline for more than 65% of their snaps. Allen was asked to block on 19% of his pass plays. These type guys don’t have much appeal to us in fantasy football with that type of profile unless things drastically chage.

RAMS TE FREE AGENCY TAKE: The Rams currently have enough with the mix of blocking and pass-catching they have, even if Higbee leaves. After spending a second round pick on Terrance Ferguson, I don’t expect them to be in on the top free agent options. If they really did not believe in the guys they currently have, Cade Otton is familair with the scheme from his time with Liam Coen and would be a good fit. I’m just not sure that’s a good allocation of money for this team.
